I don't see the Steelers doing anything close to 15-1. Probably 9-7 or 10-6.

I don't think they will go 2-14, but I do agree that they will be the biggest dissapointment. my guess is 6-10, out of playoffs.

I just don't understand where this free fall is comign from if Favre said he's in the best shape of his life, Javon Walker is a year older, ad wiser, and Ahman Green is still their running back.

How about:
Poor draft
No defense
Crappy O-Line
Improvement within the division (well except the Bears)
Brett Favre a year older
I don't see any improvement the Packers made during the offseason and they are all a year older now (old veterans got older too)
Plus Brett Favre sucks!

Favre said he's in the best shape of his life.
No shit, he isn't going to say "I'm in the worst shape of my life" or even "My shape is average compared to the rest of my life."

Although I'm not in the same boat, a lot of my friends think my favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, will disappoint, saying Big Ben's rookie season was a fluke. We shall see.
As for my answer, I see the Seahawks missing the playoffs.

San Diego (Super)Chargers, their non-division schedule is brutal, not to mention they will be flying across the country for most of their toughest games, which all happen to have 1:00 EST kickoffs, as well
at NE, at Philly, at the Jets, at Indy - plus Pitt and Buffalo at home. And toss in their annual loss at Denver

Good point.
I was thinking about taking the Under on their win total. I expected to see it at 9 or 9.5, but it was 8 on bodog, so others must have the same idea.

Umm actually he said that this season he actually went into a very intricate training regimen to be ready for this season, which he had not done in the past. so I believe he said in the past he hasn't been in top shape, but this year he has worked himself into it.
And crappy O-line? Favre was sacked only 12 times last year? I would say that is a pretty decent o-line to me. As far as the draft, are you telling me they should have taken someone other than Rodgers? IT was a no brainer that they had to take a guy who dropped that far and was a potential #1.
The Lions can improve all they want within the division, with Harrington/Garcia at QB they will never be anything. I don't care what their group of Wide receivers looks like.
As far as no defense...sure I wont argue that their defense is lacking, however their defensive line is solid in my opinion, and if maybe Ahmad Carroll can step up this year they can slightly improve over last year. So I think 5-11 is a bad idea of the packer season, and in my opinion 9-7 is a more likely target.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the Eagles will not make it to the NFC Championship this year. Not because other teams are great, but I have this bad feeling they will implode.
Call it Philly sports fan's instinct...
(I hope they win the SB, but every Philly fan has a knot in their gut waiting for the other shoe to drop).

Steelers: Rothlessbacon will have a similar season to last year but will finish 9-7 or 10-6. Other teams will realize how overrated Big Ben really was last year.
Chargers: I simply don't think Drew Brees will have that good of a season again. They'll finish 8-8 or 9-7 and just missing the playoffs.
Patriots: With Romeo and Charlie gone they won't have such an amazing season. They're defense is also a little weaker without Tedi Brushci and Ty Law. But they're still good, they'll finish with 11 wins.
Eagles: How long before T.O and McNabb just snap on eachother? Probably after the first loss.

More like 11-5 - but that's an indication of a harder schedule, not loss of talent...if anything, they have a better team this year - their defense has actually IMPROVED, if one can believe that.
Obviously, the Patriots are going to drop off a bit...but they'll still be a playoff contender. Biggest drop off may be the Eagles (7-9?, 8-8?) or, as someone mentioned, the Packers (7-9...or maybe worse). The Packers defense is a train wreck. Farve should keep them from totally falling out of contention, though.
BTW, those that think the Steelers season hinges on how good or bad Roethlisberger plays doesn't know how this team works...they have NEVER needed a good quarterback to play well...just an adequate quarterback. You're talking about a team that went to several AFC championship games with Kordell Stewart and one Super Bowl with Neil O'Donnell.

I know this and is the main reason why I dislike Big Ben. He's just a decent QB, middle of the pack in the AFC. However, whenever I turned on Sportscenter last season all I heard about was Big Ben.

LOL where is this defence for Brett Favre when all the haters come out to play. To be honest though, there is good reason to have Ben on Sportscenter every other day, I mean the guy didn't lose. Who cares if his numbers weren't top tier quarterback numbers, he managed to do it when it counted and make the Steelers a 15-1 team. But yeah he doesn't seem like that amazing of a quarterback fundamentally and skill wise, but i'll give him credit...he knows how to win.

As a Steeler fan I fear that Ben will let success go to his head. Hope not. We want him to stay humble, stay within himself, and progress to the next level by learning how to counter the max coverage defenses that other teams are starting to throw at him. Just play within the system and rely on the talents of your teammates.
I admire Favre, by the way. I don't hate a guy just because the sportscasters (like Madden - or was it Frank Caliendo?) gush all over him.

That is a very true but its the same reason why people hate guys like Derek Jeter. Media overrating a player = Fans disliking the player instead of the media. I guess thats just how it works.

Wins when it counts? I disagree. Don't get me wrong 15-1 is a pretty sharp record (especially for a rookie) but Ben did nothing to help his team win in the playoffs. Winning in the playoffs is "when it counts".
Here are his stats for 2 playoff games:
Div. vs. Jets: 17 of 30 for 181 yards 1 TD 2 INT = 57.8 rating
Conf. vs. NE: 14 of 24 for 226 yards 2 TD 3 INT = 78..1 rating

When a team with a rookie quarterback goes 15-1, of course you're going to hear about him over and over again. It's a feat that's never been done. He may be 'just a decent QB', but he was a rookie and he didn't implode like many rookies do.

he definately didnt help the steelers win but if you take away the TWO bombs the defense gave up against the patriots it might have been a diffrent ball game
