PSP Firmware 2.00 Finally released

http://www.us.playstation.com/PSP.as...softwareupdate

Also have a question . At home I use a wired LAN with cat 5 cables and such. If I upgrade this does it do auto detect for a signal from a wireless router or does it have to be set for a specific wireless connection. Like can I lets say walk around different places and will the PSP auto detect a wireless LAN connection letting me browse where by using someone elses connection without setting anything up?

You will need to setup a specific SSID for each hot spot. And, most people are not able to connect using the auto settings.

How would that work? Would I need setting for each hot spot provided by who ever is sending out the wireless signal?

The easiest way to ensure that everything works perfectly is to have a setting for each hotspot. The pain is setting it up, but after that each time you connect it gives you the choice of which connection to use.

You can use auto detect if you get rid of any security and your wirless router accepts it. Most do not.

FYI you can scan for nearby hotspots and, if unsecured, basically connect in a few seconds. I did it twice yesterday.

I wonder if it'd be possible for someone to write the emulators as a web app that a 2.0 PSP could run? Or somehow write a web app that launches a homebrew app?

Surfing is actually pretty useful. You can download your IE or FireFox bookmarks to your memory stick and use them inside the browser. The smart fit is a nice feature to make everything look right. As long as the pages you view aren't too graphic intense, it works great. It doesn't support Flash.

The browser has a bunch of options (including cookies and cache) to make it even more useful for power users.

joeblow69 - There are ways, but we can not discuss them here.

There's a site that has a bunch of Java emulators but they are pretty limited.

I can't seem to figure out how to get my IE favorites onto the PSP browser, tried saving them to the Browser folder and the saved data folder, neither worked...any tips on how to go about it would be appreciated...thanks!
