can someone please explain to me why so many people think Alabama will be good this year?

as usual they're overrrated oh well when they go 3-9/2-9 the rest of SEC fans will

they've got my Hogs in bowl, yeah at least it's not Shreveport rotfl

twikoff
08-28-05, 11:53 AM
they always pick bama high
because they always know bama will have one of the toughest defenses in the country and never know what to expect from their offense
everyone is banking on brodie actually putting together a healthy season.. He is good, when he actually is out there.. And they have really good running backs returning..
they could possibly win 10 games this season.. but shula alone should be good for at least 4 losses.

oh.. and SCREW BAMA!!!!!!

I'm just happy the Ron Turne reign of terror is over at Illinois:banana:

Zook probably won't win more then 4 games this year, his defense is made up mostly of guys Turner out recruited directional schools for and our best QB is a Sr in high school right now, but he seems to be off to a good start.

One final kick in the sack from Turner was Zook had to throw RB Marcus Mason off the team. Turner took a commitment from Mason over Minnesota RB, and probable Heisman candidate, Laurence Maroney who wanted to come to Illinois-ohbfrank-

I'm excited to finally see Laurence Maroney get his chance to be the featured back. He'll finally be able to show the country what he can do on his own.

Start the damn games already!

Can't wait for WVU-Syracuse on Sunday. Will be interesting as there's no way to know what to expect from either team. Both lost a lot, WVU will have a first time starting QB, Syracuse is playing the first game under a new coach etc.

I love my Cougars (WSU, not BYU, Houston, etc), but 29.5 is a huge number for us. A lot of new faces on the O-Line and in the secondary, and two quarterbacks who have yet to show much. 61.0 sounds way too high also.

Myron Rolle, who's considered by most scouts to be the #1 SR in this high school class, made his college choice today. Rolle has a 4.0 GPA at a private school in NJ. He said he plans to be a premed major and academics would be very important in determining what school he picked. So what school did he pick?

Should have bet the over in the Houston game.

Red Dog
09-01-05, 07:54 PM
Oregon might have the worst secondary I've ever seen. USC might put up 100 on them when they play.

twikoff
09-01-05, 08:06 PM
sweet play by the cocks
but he let himself get run down inside the 5
65 yards on that screen pass

twikoff

and usc punches it in to go up 14-0.. halfway through the first qtr

Red Dog
09-01-05, 08:10 PM
Damn - that Oregon kicker is earning his scholarship.

twikoff
09-01-05, 08:28 PM
its funny
you can actually see the spurrier swagger in these usc players
they just dont have the talent to back it up

like that play there.. they get the guy wide open for a long pass that was a sure touchdown, and the qb overshoots him by almost 10 yards.

twikoff
09-01-05, 08:31 PM
over 200 yards passing by s. carolina in the first quarter

USC -11.5 first half

:)

Red Dog
09-01-05, 09:34 PM
Wow. The coach of Houston has zero faith in his kicker. Going for it on 4th and 3 from the 10 and up 1 point.

Jeremy517
09-01-05, 10:09 PM
Don't get me wrong... we should win. But number is big for this young team.

Going 80 yards from scrimmage on the first play of the game is a pretty good start though

Jeremy517
09-01-05, 10:16 PM
And then a fumble on the ensuing kickoff, followed by a second touchdown three plays later.

Maybe the Cougars put up a copy of my post on the locker room bulletin board...

Red Dog
09-01-05, 10:16 PM
I've drawn one major conclusion about college football this season watching this Oregon/Houston game....

college football + instant replay = 4 hour games on average

Bill Geiger

Temple fumbles but recovers...0-0 woth 11 minutes to go in the 1st qtr.

Red Dog
09-01-05, 10:55 PM
Oregon -9  Made it interesting though with all the FGs. Nice to start the betting season with win.

twikoff
09-01-05, 10:55 PM
did someone forget to tell UCF that the freekick after a safety is a free ball for either team to recover
they almost sat there and let USC cover it

twikoff
09-01-05, 10:57 PM
ucf quickly down to the 16 yard line
down 9 points (after the intentional safety)
40 seconds to go

twikoff
09-01-05, 10:59 PM
USC missed two easy chances for a interception in the endzone to wrap up the game (on the same play)

and spurrier threw the visor

Joe Molotov
09-01-05, 10:59 PM

Sick of "moral victories"...UCF needs to start backing up their talk about wanting to get to the next level. Only getting 10 points after driving in the 2nd half and giving up 2 quick td's is ridiculous .

twikoff
09-01-05, 11:05 PM

Jesus. The place kicker for ASU is good. On a safety against the Devils, they elected to place kick rather than punt from the 20 yard line. The kicker, Ainsworth, kicked it 79 yards in the air to the opposing goal line. -eek-

well.. that 200+ yards passing in the first quarter had people talking
but ending up with only about 350, wasnt all that impressive
there was definitly a difference in the team, but without the talent, they arent going to win very many games..
they absolutely cannot run the ball at all.. and their defense will get picked apart by sec caliber teams.

whoever signed off on the Wisconsin helmets should have a similar "W" tatooed to both the front and back of their head. What's the story - a one game retro, or brand spankin' new? I wasn't listening to the outset of the game.

I am surprised that you think Georgia can beat BSU by over 7. Boise hasn't lost a game by more than 4 points in over 2-3 years.

Bill, considering their schedule last two years, that's not saying much. I resepct BSU, and I expect them to be a tough opponent. But the last two years they didn't play anyone with the speed, depth, and strength of a top SEC school. They didn't play a defense like Georgia's going to show them either. Just look at BSU's schedule the last few seasons and you will see what I mean. Their toughest opponent was Louisville and they lost that game. Not to mention their defense was not that good considering the scores from last year.

Having said that, I can say all UGA fans consider this a risky game. BSU is tough. But Georgia will be the toughest opponent they've played since the beginning of last couple of years, and maybe longer than that.

Bill Geiger
09-03-05, 02:44 PM
Well, on my website for betting, BSU is getting 8.....and that is a monster. I do know BSU doesn't play the greatest on the road.....they never really have since coming into division 1. But, given that Zabransky is a second year starter and BSU has a ton of players coming back.... I can't see them losing by more than 3.....in fact, I fully expect them to win today.

Daryl,

I am surprised that you think Georgia can beat BSU by over 7. Boise hasn't lost a game by more than 4 points in over 2-3 years.

No real insight, it was just one of my favorite early season plays: non-Southern teams playing on the road in the South in early September. I just felt a team like Boise would struggle in early September playing in Georgia, particularly in the 2nd half. Didn't see any of the first half, so I can't comment on what actually has taken place.

The best part about the penalty was that he shoved him first, which the ref might have let slide, but then he throws the ball at his head just to make sure the ref calls it. I guess that's what you can expect from a team where one player beats the crap out of a teammate over a video game betting debt, and the coach brushes it off as "boys will be boys"
