Who is the greatest movie bad guy?
In my opinion it has to be The Terminator. Arnold's only good role good guy or bad. This movie not only rejuvinated one liners for bad guys but Arnold is just incredibly vicious and cool. Now here is the part we can all argue about a close second in my book is Tom Cruise in Collateral for all the same reasons as above but the only thing different is the brutality factor. The reason I take Cruise second over Darth is that there are too few movies where the bad guy is so slick you just have too root for him and Tom Cruise did that for me in Collateral, there was not one second of the movie I did not want to see him take everyone out and I was bummed when he dies. Now Lets start the verbal bashing of one another.

The Terminator becoming a good guy in T2, and Vader's redemption at the end of ROTJ, count against them in their claims to the #1 spot.

Darth Vader in The Empire Strikes Back. I'll choose to ignore his embarassing cameo at the end of ROTS so as to not diminish his presence in ESB.
I also love Ricardo Montalban's performance as Khan in Star Trek II.

Personally and just because I rewatched it last night:
Stephen Glass from Shattered Glass
Not the actual Glass (of whom I have no idea about besides being a liar), but Christensen's and the writer's fine and identifiable characterization. He was just a pitiful, whiny, passive-aggressive, ingratiating, lying, hypocritical twerp that I'd love to just smack some sense into over and over again.
