I still don't know what the word means, though!

Thanks, and I really, sincerely, mean that!

Here's the Story on my Birthdays:

You see, my Dad didn't celebrate Birthdays, or Holidays as anything special, so I never had an actual Birthday party. Maybe if I had a Brother or Sister, we would have had them. Maybe he would have had a kid he actually Loved.

I learned (as a little kid) to dread my Birthday, because I knew it would be yet another year, where I wouldn't know the fun of receiving presents or having a party, or even a cup cake. I had to learn to "Get Over It" in that area as a wee child. So, I kinda learned my lesson, and tried to get used it, and pretty much ignored the 16th of every August.

…and sure, I always went to other kid's Birthday parties to help them celebrate, and even had to work to buy them presents, but it's hard to express (in words) the inner pain mixed with anger & self pity that I felt, and how many times I'd hear other kids having a great time, riding their bikes and playing with their presents every Birthday or Christmas. A child can't process that kinda pain properly, but I somehow dealt with it the best I could throughout the years, and I thank God I managed to stay out of trouble pretty much all of my life.

It wasn't until I met Treesa, that I had an actual B-Day party.

As an adult, they really don't mean that much to me anymore. One year seems little different than the one before. However, to say they don't make me a little sad would be a lie. In all honesty, I still have a lot of pain associated with it, like when my Mom passed on, it still lingers, but life goes on, and besides, there are many other folks with real problems that make mine (in proper perspective) seem rather petty & insignificant.

Over time, I've learned that the greatest gift I can receive nowadays is being a little wiser with every passing year. With wisdom, I can understand without being selfish how give Love, and contribute, and help others, and find peace in the fact that I haven’t just wasted time.

So, I'm very thankful (from the bottom of my heart), and don't take for granted any truly "Happy" Birthday wishes sent my way.

-Paul

You share a birthday with my dad. I had forgotten about it until my mom called to remind me. :(

Ooops!

I did that once with my mom, whose birthday is on Jan 2nd.

Back in 1988, when I was having problems at my job and wasn't thinking clearly, I forgot her birthday. A couple of days after her birthday, her manfriend (at the time) called me and said "Chris, did you forget your mother's birthday". I suddenly got a sick feeling in my stomach and realized that I had blown it big time.

Well, I haven't forgotten her birthday since then. Every year since then, I've kinda hoped that she would forget my birthday at least once, so we could be even. ;) But I'm her only son and the pride of her life, so she would never forget my birthday.

That's rough.

I have a terrible memory in general, but especially about significant dates like birthdays. Usually my sister calls to remind me about family birthdays and such, but she didn't this year. I really need to put all these dates in a calendar program or something. I would have felt terrible if she wouldn't have reminded me.

Do you have a Yahoo e-mail account? I put all of my important birthday reminders in there and it e-mails me a couple of days before.

The guys webpage said he saw it in the early 70's, but here is more info:

Plot Summary for
"Diver Dan" (1961)

Dan explores a magical undersea world "peopled" by talking fish and ruled by a beautiful and wise mermaid. Much of the drama is fueled by the nefarious Baron Barracuda and his henchfish Trigger who, "dripping" with evil intent, scheme to eliminate Dan and destroy the peace and serenity of the inhabitants.

Oh and here is more info from that webpage:

so he and his crew spent the next nine months filming 104 episodes of Diver Dan.

What is unfortunate about this childhood classic, which seems to be the norm with most of them, is that only a handfull of episodes of the show still exisit out of that 104.

So, it looks like Diver Dan was filmed in 1961 and maybe 1962 and what we saw were repeated repeats over the years... well except for THE:eek:EEK, who surely was old enough to see the live shows in 1961.
