Zelda Delayed to Next Year

http://cube.ign.com/articles/642/642238p1.html

Glad I got Dragon Quest 8 and hopefully KH2 to keep me busy at end of year.

Wow, that is a tough one for Nintendo. That was pretty much the game that was going to keep the Cube alive this holiday season. As always though I credit Nintendo with taking the time to make their games correctly instead of rushing things through like many other publishers.

This makes Fire Emblem a must buy now.

Yep. Glad they take the time to do it right, but the GCN is on its last legs already and this was definitely the title to have this christmas. The last GCN games I picked up were Pikmin 2 and Metroid 2 last Christmas. A shame, it is a great system.

Agreed. Nintendo is not going to move a lot of software this holiday season on the Cube. They have some good titles coming out between now and Christmas, but none are big time franchises that can fill the void of Zelda. This could end up being the worst holiday season in the US for Nintendo in their history. They had better hope the DS picks up some steam in the US.

Wonder how much their stock is going to drop due to this announcement?

Sucks. But honestly I haven't been gaming hardly at all the past couple of months, even though I have some games I'm in the middle of and some I haven't started yet. So I guess this will give me time to catch up on those if I get some interest back and there's tons of games I've missed the past year or two that I can pick up cheap now if I really get into a gaming groove.

On one hand, I'm pretty bummed out about this because I really wanted to play it as soon as possible. But on the other hand, this is probably going to be the last GameCube game of any merit, so I'm glad to see they're taking their time to really make it count.

Only thing that sucks about this is that I was planning to give the game as an Xmas present.

Maybe they'll succumb further into the wishes of the internet pre-teen male contingent and make Link a whiney, angst-filled diva like the recent Final Fantasy protagonists, give him a gun and allow him to steal horses from enemies. Oh, and make sure his hair isn't blonde, because as we all know, playing as a blonde-haired kid with a sword is apparently detriment to one's testosterone facade.

Geez....this news really bites to me. I was very much looking forward to playing this during some of the holiday season. Guess not. It will still be worth the wait, I just hate having to...

Actually, I am. For the GC, Nintendo has been doing a lot less delaying than usual, and the quality of their games has really taken a hit. Both Super Mario Sunshine, Wind Waker, and Pikmin 2 both came out with few, if any delays (can't remember offhand), and were all pretty disappointing.

I would much rather have seen those games pushed back a bit and polished, which is what I assume that they're doing for TP. Honestly, I'm actually looking forward to the game more now that I know that they're not just rushing it out for their original release date.

Bummer. Man, besides RE 4, I haven't touched my Gamecube in a long time. Was hoping to be playing this come fall. Ah well.

I think Sega's already got that covered...

Dissapointing, I was really looking forward to this game, although I really hope they get it right and release when it's ready. I really think this will hurt the cube during the holiday season, I am not really sure they have any other big sellers coming out.

A part of me is happy they are taking their time on it, making it the best game possible. Another part of me is upset because I was really looking forward to playing it this fall. I'm glad though a lot of great stuff is coming out for the Nintendo DS before the holidays, so that should keep me busy until the new Zelda comes out.

Hopefully, it will be like Resident Evil 4. Difficult to lose it for the holidays, but worth it when you see how well it turned out. As far as I can tell Nintendo has got nothing much to help them for the holidays on the Cube. I doubt Pokemon XD will be that big of a seller (it isn't even a big deal in Japan) and Fire Emblem will probably be excellect, but honestly is a niche title. Mario Strikers, DDR, etc will not be enough to save the Cube. I'm wondering if Nintendo will drop the Cube price to try and help.

I'm betting all the marketing for the holidays will now center on the DS (which they really need to catch on here they way it has in Japan) and the GBA Micro. Its going to be a stormy ride in the US.

They apparently dropped the price of the DS to $130 effective 8/21 also. I'm bummed about Zelda but with Advance Wars next week I'll be busy for a while I'm sure. Other stuff will fill the void in there, might finally pick up Tales of Symphonia.

Whatever it takes to keep the game from looking like Celda.

Until Link is an ass kicking elf like the prince in PoP WW, no sale.

Seriously, I was so looking forward to this, but if they are making it better, then more power to them. Still a ton of good games coming out this holiday season.

Looks like more DS games for me this holiday. Wi-Fi games should suffice.
