Gus Van Sant's Last Days 25th October 2005
from www.dvdanswers.com:
Warner has officially announced Gus Van Sant's Last Days which stars Lukas Haas, Michael Pitt and Asia Argento. The film introduces us to Blake, a brilliant, but troubled musician. Success has left him in a lonely place, where livelihoods rest on his shoulders and old friends regularly tap him for money and favors. The film follows Blake through a handful of hours spent in and near his wooded home... a fugitive from his own life. The disc will be available to own from the 25th October, priced at around $27.95. The film itself will be presented in anamorphic widescreen, along with an English Dolby Digital 5.1 track. Extras will include deleted scenes, a music video, outtakes and more. We've attached the artwork below
i can't wait.

Bummer as I wanted to see this in the theater first. I'll end up buying this anyway. I love Van Sant's work.

crap! well that would have saved me 8 bucks of my money from going down the drain - I think if I had seen this at home, I would have turned this movie off, half way through.

My opinion from DVD Answers:
I saw it at the Landmark Greenway in Houston a few nights ago.
I thought it was very well done, and also a tad disappointing. I understand that it's about self-distruction, but I found myself a bit bored at times and not really caring for what was happening to Blake because, while I did feel kinda sorry for him because everyone was using him, he just wasn't a very likable person (not to mention I could barely understand a word he said because of the drugs).
However, I still plan on buying it because of the beautiful cinematography.
Wow, 10/25's gonna be a busy day. This, House of Wax, and Mysterious Skin.
Actually, October on a whole is gonna be expensive. Those three titles, the Fly films, Titanic, Batman, High Tension, Kingdom of Heaven, The Amityville Horror, Man with the Screaming Brain, and Star Trek: Nemesis among others.

wow, i just saw this three days ago. planned to see it again at the theater but now i suppose i'll wait for the DVD. i'm eager to re-evaluate the two scenes set to songs with the notable lyric "on bended knee". these are the only sequences we see from multiple perspectives. there must be something there (philosophical, metaphorical, or otherwise) that i'm not seeing yet.
this worries me though...
like Elephant, Last Days' OAR is 1.37:1. which I can confirm seeing it projected as such at the theater. i hope this isn't going to be a case of the 16x9 equivilant to full screen on the DVD release.

I would assume if you have a widescreen monitor/tv - the film will be standard 1.37:1 with black borders being on the sides of the film. I would doubt they would stretch this to 16X9 aspect ratio as your concern suggests - or I am not understanding what you are asking?

I was a big fan of Elephant. I can understand how Last Days might be boring, and I believe the people who said it was, but I think I might still enjoy it. I'll pick it up although I won't go out of my way to do so.
