Yes!! Activate it whenever you want. Good little unit too, had it in my car for 3 months before I got a pioneer XM ready HU. Now I want to connect it to my home audio system.....just need to find the home kit for that kind of price.

Note that the 4.99 price is after a $45 mail in rebate.

Still, even with MIR, that's an absolutely amazing price! Thanks for posting!

once you go xm, you'll never go back. I just bought my second one, got the first a month ago. I went with the skyfi and got the boom box so I can listen at work.

placed my order .. thanks OP for the heads up.

added: the rebate form looks like it just needs an order number, so can I fill it out and send it in now (since I have that order #) ?

That's a shame. seems like such a nice deal

Anyone know if I can mail the rebate form in now, since I have the order number? Or do I need to wait for it to arrive?

I paid 129 last year about this time. I am happy with the unit.

I've got one of these myself and have been meaning to pick one up for the wife.

Great deal, thanks!

Earlier, Ecost was giving them away free after rebate. Still $5 after rebate is damn cheap.

What's up with the 2 dollar shipping PLUS a 6 dollar handling fee? I didn't even notice that until I already placed the order through. Still cheap with the rebate, but seems a little sneaky.

How easy is it to install this unit on a temporary basis? I have held off because I don't want to do a permanent installation in my vehicle. I've read the manual available online but it is not clear just how practical it is to just leave the antenna on top of your vehicle magnetically and run a cord through a window. Is that really ugly (both the cord dangling into your car and the cord running through your car)?

The Roady is meant to be semi-portable so you can move it from car to car or home. I imagine the antenna would look pretty ugly installed as you described. Also, going through a window is going to crimp and possibly (probably) damage the antenna cable.

You might consider getting a permanently installed antenna that you just have to plug into the unit when you have it in the car.

Really?
I noticed that there wasn't any mention of a UPC on the rebate form, but was a little wary of sending in the form without it!
I guess you've done one of eCost's rebates before?
Thanks!

I actually just put one of these in my car today, and I guess its nice... The only thing is changing the channels can preoccupy you while driving... The switch is a little weird. But I am sure I will get better at it once I get all the presets done... Cool thing is with this unit, you can save up to 20 songs in memory, and when it comes on any station, you radio will tell you and you can go right to it.

Can you tell us the setup you are using for your car? What components do you have to make this work?

Thanks in advance.

OMG they raised the price? They used to offer "Free" shipping with a $5 "handling" fee for orders over $25. This is a little much now. $8 for shipping?

I was also a little pissed that they slipped that $6 handling charge in there. But $12 for the unit still seems like a great deal.

you mean you put in a SkyFi??? -confused-

The Roady2 is a good unit, had mine for 6mo. I might grab this as a backup unit. My main gripe is the display. I don't so much mind the 2 lines, but would be nice if the text would scroll to show whole Artist or Song Title.

Sorry, did not see this till just now... I drive a 2003 Honda Element. This car came with an AUX jack in it. With that, I am able to get the best sound possible from this unit. That is according to the instructions. 2nd best would be the tape adapter that comes wiith it, 3rd being an FM transmitter, and 4th is the wireless FM transmitter. The radio is already set up to transmit via FM if you don't have a tape player or AUX jack. The satalite is very small and just is magnetic to the roof of my car... RAn the wires down a seem in the door and in back of my glove box, and now I have a wire free set up... Well kind of... Their are three wires coming out of the unit. One is power, two is the satalite, and three is the AUX chord... So it does look a little funny with all those chords... Today I started to like it better. The thing is, the stations play some popular songs, but than others that you never even new of... It may be a popular artist, but one of their less popular songs. The comedy stations are funny though... for 4.99 its well worth it... Email me for a free activation code and 3 months service!

Good luck with your rebates. I never got my $50 ecost rebate for my Nintendo DS, and ecost didn't answer my email about it . I got this note in response to my complaint that I didn't get my rebate.
