Fox announced 2 new HD channels yesterday....

HD National Geographic Channel and "Fox HD", which will show programming from several Fox channels and FX!

Man, if they could have this by next year for the new seasons of The Shield and Rescue Me!

If those channels rerun hours of "King of the Hill" episodes in HD everyday. I'm going to scream.

Hopefully it won't be what USA/Universal does and become a dumping ground for old episodes. I'd gladly wait a week or a few days to see the new episodes of the good shows.

Old eps, new eps, movies - who cares? This is just good news period. More HD is a great thing. It's funny because so many of us have been saying recently how Fox needs an HD station similar to Universal HD.

Unless they air the F/X originals simultaneously,

The best part is that you'll likely be screwed, as they are saying these might be DirecTV exclusives for the time being.

That's okay. Besides the issue that I doubt they would air the F/X originals simultaneously, I'd rather have uncensored Howard Stern anyhow.

Also, from what I've heard, DTV's HD offerings leave a lot to be desired.

You bastard. I won't get HS.

Anyway, yes, the HD is lacking on DirecTV. However, that is because they are converting to MPEG-4, and there are bandwidth issues w/ launching more channels. Supposedly ESPN-2 will be on of, if not the last, addition to the HD before the rollout of the new stuff.

That's the one I've been waiting for since they do a good number of college hoops games in HD. I think Comcast has plans to add it because there is an empty channel right after ESPNHD in the program guide.

I'll believe it when I see it on my existing cable tier.

There are bandwidth issues with the current channels too, which is why pretty much everything is downsampled and recompressed.

Check AVSforum. Apparently DiscoveryHD was jumped up quite a bit recently.

I check it many times a day, every day. I saw a thread about HDNet being bumped back up to 1920x1080, although they keep throttling the bandwidth, so it gets pretty blocky whenever there's any motion.
