Gene Simmons' Rock School?

Gene will teach a buncha British kids how to be "Rockers" in this new "reality show".

It's on Vh1 and while i know it'll be freaky just because Gene is part of it, it actually looks kinda interesting.

Just watched the rerun of the premiere episode last night. It's kind of amusing. . .I can only imagine the parents' reaction to this "rock star" turning their child away from classical music and to screeching guitars! And of course, the children commenting about how Gene slept with 4,000 women won't help.

I watched it this weekend too and was really into it until the Headmaster (or whatever) started telling Gene that thats not how you teach a class and how she'd keep an eye on him or whatever.

That makes this show seem very set up. Why? Because I would think that a prestigious school like this would take the time to get all hte information as to what Gene is going to do, or at least his boundaries. YOu can't tell me that she's shocked or surprised at what he's doing (and its not even that out of the ordinary, if i was going to teach a kid about rock and roll, i'd pretty much do the same thing he is).

I'm going to put that aside though because i think its a pretty interesting show. Plus i wanna see them open for Motorhead.

Interesting choice for lead singer in "The Emperor". He's got the right attitude, but his singing needs a lot of work. He didn't even seem to grasp the correct wording/timing of "God Gave Rock n Roll To You". He was just belting out the whole line over and over. But I agree with Simmons that definitely had the rockstar thing down better than anyone else.

Kind of want to watch it, but I am sad that Gene has decided he is to the point in his life that he should do a reality series.

You mean that point that someone offered him money to do a reality series?

I liked how he spelled his name on the board, like many dvdtalkers do, Mr. $immons.

Gene has been doing that since the 70's.

I mean the point that he would accept money to do it. I doubt it is a lot of money.

Any idea how much he is getting? Maybe it's not a lot, maybe it is. Maybe he's doing it for a kick, a lark, or for the exposure. Or a combination of all of the above. He doesn't look like he's not having fun.

Nah, you got it backwards. Gene Simmons is a money grubbing whore (KISS credit cards? KISS coffins?) and saw a chance to make a quick buck and keep his name in circulation now that the remnants of KISS have finished their latest farewell tour.

And I don't blame him one bit . Plus the show's entertaining, so no complaints here.

Saw it (and I'm a KISS fan), and the only thing worse is the "Tommy Lee goes to school" show.

I saw it and I liked it. I also like how Gene is de-emphasizing TALENT.

And based on Gene's "Personality over TALENT" mantra, I agree that the "Emperor" is the lead singer.

Why not? It's a formula that worked for KISS for decades!

What's up with that? I saw a minute of this show and thought "are they broadcasting this in anamorphic? I switched my TV over to 16X9 and it looked right. Then they showed some live Kiss footage and that was 4X3. Very strange. Is it a mistake? I don't get it.

I didn't say it bothered me. Hell, I've been KISS fan since the late 70's. KISS is talented but they're incredibly fuckin' lazy. I've heard some amazing stuff from Paul.
