I just recently moved to the USA and purchased a DVD machine. A pioneer dV 270, but all the DVDs I brought from home (Denmark). It seems that none of them are working over here because we are using region 1 in the USA and region 2 in Europe.
Is there anybody out there who have an idea of how to make my dvd player region free????
Any reply would be highly appreciated....
Regards,
Mike

If there is a way to make it region-free, it hasn't been posted on the main site to check (http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDnameid=4254&Search=Search&#comments).
Wouldn't you also need PAL conversion?
Sounds like you might need to buy a new DVD player to serve all your needs. Check that site I posted above for reviews and player ideas.

Try searching for the 275, there have been some people claiming success with some standard firmware hacking. Many of their machines work the same way. Not gonna find a remote hack for a Pioneer, though.

Thanks for the prompt reply.
Actually the PAL/NTSC conversion problem, I believe, is mostly with the TV. The reg 1 movies I watched in Denmark sometimes would have "shadows" due to the poor NTSC/PAL conversion.....
I will keep searching for a way....
If not then I may just have 200+ movies for sale from around the world....

There's no need to sell your movies, there are lots of $30 DVD players out there (or at least less than $50) that do PAL/NTSC conversion and are easily made region free.
