Disaster Movies

My wife likes disaster / doomsday movies like "Asteroid", "Independance Day" etc. Whats your favorite? Whats your recommendation?

Here's what you need, the "Terminal Pack":

This program contains the complete AIRPORT disaster-film series. Films include: AIRPORT, AIRPORT 1975, AIRPORT '77, and THE CONCORDE: AIRPORT '79…
$13.99 with free shipping & no tax (unless you live in Illinois)

As for my favorites, besides one of the Airport movies (can't remember which one) I liked the Towering Inferno, Poseiden Adventure, and some of the recent round of disaster movies (like Independence Day, Armageddon, etc).

Here are some of my faves in no particular order for disaster/doomsday movies:

War of the Worlds (Cruise)
The Core
Twister
Towering Inferno
Armagaddon
Dawn of the Dead remake
Land of the Dead
28 Days Later
On the Beach
The Time Machine

War of the Worlds
28 Days Later
12 Monkeys
Titanic

All very well made in my opinion - and great directors too... (Spielberg, Boyle, Gilliam and Cameron)

Lot of good ones mentioned so far, but if quality is of no importance, try When Time Ran Out with Paul Newman. It's a volcano that no one (except Newman, natch) believes will erupt.

You wife might enjoy Last Night...indie Canadian film about the end of the world. But if she's looking for cool special effects and loads of people dying, you're out of luck

In this movie the world simply ends without any resistance, or "Acts of God" Good flick though.

Haven't seen it yet. But KAIRO looks excellent! I just read the DVDTalk Review, and am pretty anxious to see it.
