I just found on play.com seinfeld seasons 5 & 6 advertised. Also a gift set is available - tshirt and script - and all out on november 28. Of course this is only region 2 maybe region 1 is different.www.play.com (http://www.play.com/seinfeld)

This is going to be the fastest released TV show ever I think, excellent!

I'm not gonna get my hopes up too much just yet, but a USA press release should be coming in the next 30+ days. Given how the 2 sets (seasons 1 thru 3) and the gift set sold HUGE numbers last holiday season, this makes total sense profit wise. Spreading out the releases to put season 6 in March or so won't make it sell more copies. The XMAS season and Seinfeld (a top gift idea) go together great. I would love 2 more full seasons in 2005. That also means they can do the exact same schedule next year (2006) then all 9 seasons will be out. Count me in for everything.

This sounds like a very real possibility. Here's hoping we have the first 6 seasons by year's end.

I would definately like to see another gift set. The first gift set was nicely setup and looks great on the shelf. Not holding my breath, though. Either way, as with most of us, I am in it for the long haul, so whenever they get them out, I will be there.

Very possible! Sony needs the cash at this time. Speedy release is good for us and the corporate behemoth.

I wish they would both come out. I feel all the studios should hurry things up a little. Especially FOX and the Simpsons.

It would be a brilliant idea as they would sell like hotcakes.

November sounds about right to me. 2 seasons and a gift set to help take advantage of the holidays is a good idea. That leaves Season 7 to come out next spring and seasons 8 and 9 at the end of next year. And then Sony can start releasing the Blu-Ray versions in 2007. :)

However, this is great news! I'll just get the sets themselves, I don't need a copy of a script and a mini-tshirt.

Um, everyone who's complaining about the colors... you do realize that Volume 4 appears to be purple, right? Maybe I'm going color blind, but it looks nothing like the bright blue they used for V1 and V2.

So it appears on the 4 computers I've used to read the news article that V1 - blue, V2 - blue, V3 - green, V4 - purple, V5 - gray.

Now why they're using gray is beyond me...

won't this be out just sooner than the DDD 20% off?I'm guessing it will be the other way around. That the (possible) DDD 20% off sale will end just before Seinfeld seasons 5 and 6 are released (just like in 2004).

Personally, whether you like the bonus items in the gift set or not, I think the gift set is worth it just for the box alone, since either four or five seasons can fit in each one. With another gift set coming out, I can fit my entire collection inside the first two gift set boxes, which I think look really nice.

I actually hope my Best Buy has the gift set this tuesday. Last year they got a whopping 2 sets in. Lucky enough I was waiting outside and snagged the first one. I got a lot of dirty looks that morning.

I'm thankful that they are putting this out to fast and with such decent extras. I kinda forgot I ordered the latest 2 seasons until I received a shipping notice from Amazon yesterday. With the XBOX 360 coming out I have a feeling I won't be in an hurry to watch these 2 seasons but I'm still damn happy to own them.

Season 9 it was one of the last episodes. Actually now that I think about it, it was the last regular episode. I think 2 clip shows followed it and then it was the 2 part finale.

Was on the fence for some reason, even though i'm a huge seinfeld fan, but after watching a commercial on TBS promoting the set and then doing some research. I buckled and bought/pre-ordered the gift set. In my opinion not one bad episode in those two seasons, couple that with all the xtra's. It's a must buy. The gift set items are kinda, eh. IMO.

Michael Corvin
11-21-05, 07:11 AM
Yeah, not to keen on the gift sets either. The $20 Hollywood Video fiasco helped make my mind up on the first two sets. This time around though, isn't the gift set only $5 more dollars than the individuals at Best Buy?

If the bonus discs are seperate like last time, it might be worth picking up the seasons seperately and getting two bonus discs. One to hock on ebay and recoup a little cash.

Identify
11-21-05, 08:04 AM
I'm holding off on buying these seperately, with being "burned" by series like Friends and Sex and the City, who release a big box much cheaper than buying them individually, I think I've learned my lesson.

Is there anything else not in the regular season sets but in the giftset besides the shirt and script? I was planning on getting the seasons individually, and don't want to miss any bonus features, such as the Jason+Larry = George (amazon has it listed for the giftset, and unless i was careless, didnt see it on the season sets. Thanks.

I did the Target deal for these two sets today. One for $29.99 and the other for $24.99 was too sweet for me to pass up (I used the other $5 gift card to pick up the new War of the Worlds DVD, the old one, since they had it on sale for only $4.99). The giftset looked retarded to me, so I didn't even have to think about that.

Now if it was a normal sized puffy shirt...

Fortunately, the casher was cool and rang up each item separately, using a different gift card for each purchase.

The gift set contains the puffy shirt, the script and the exact same season sets as you can buy separately. If the bonus items and the box itself don't interest you, then you're not missing out on anything if you buy the seasons separately. The discs are identical.

Season 5 includes a bonus disc (i believe the bonus disc is the same as the best buy exclusive dvd given out when you purchased any of the 1st seinfeld releases)

Not sure if this was included with the single release of the season 5 dvd or exclusive to the gift set. I got the gift set....so?

The individual sets of 5 and 6 at Wal-Mart have a sticker that says there is a Seinfeld on DVD exclusive bonus disc located inside. The gift sets don't say that, and that sticker isn't on the individual sets at other stores, such as CC or BB.

Both season 5 & 6 has an extra bonus DVD in a cardboard sleeve outside the box. I'm unsure what is on the disc because I never did open it yet.
I'm sorry, I don't have more information.

I only saw it on season 6, sticker at any rate. I only bought season 6 so I can't verify if they are the same or not. Anyone?

the disc I got with season 6 IS DIFFERENT than the Best Buy disc. This one interviews the cast about getting noticed in public. The cardboard sleeve says nothing about running time. I just bought it so I haven't had a chance to watch it yet.

If anyone can confirm if both seasons at Wal-mart have the same disc or not, please post. :)

Has anyone else had in problems with any of their discs from Season 5? The 3rd disc in my set has frozen for about 5 seconds in at least three of the episodes. I thought the first time it did it was because of a layer change but it has done it in more than one episode.

I wouldn't mess with the lens unless I have problem playing a disc that can be played on another player.

I usually don't mess with it either unless I have problems reading a disc, which isn't often. But it can help if you are having problems.
