Oasis vs. Manowar: Funny Liam Gallagher quote
Canada's ChartAttack.com is reporting that British rockers OASIS have an unlikely new adversary — Auburn, New York heavy metal band MANOWAR.
That's what happens when you stop singer Liam Gallagher in mid-brag about how OASIS are "like, the loudest band in the fucking world onstage" and tell him that the Guinness Book Of World Records instead favors MANOWAR.
"But they're loud and shit though, aren't they? They're just shit," Gallagher says emphatically.
Seated beside him, bassist Andy Bell is somewhat perplexed.
"Who are they anyway?" Bell asks. "Heavy metal?"
"Fuck MANOWAR," interjects Gallagher decisively.
There's a pause as Liam's insult sinks in. Then Bell replies dryly, "That was a good point anyway. A bit blunt of you, but well made."

Pretty funny and rather typical of the brothers Gallagher.
Kind of off-topic but...
There was a funny quote of Noel's a few years ago in Select magazine. It was typical end of the year issue and one of the questions posed to Noel was 'what was your favorite book this past year?".
Noel responds with "books are rubbish".

Anyway, did Oasis perform with Christopher Lee signing vocals at a Swedish metal fest recently like Manowar did? I THINK NOT!

I saw Manowar last month with Rhapsody. I mainly went for Rhapsody, but have a soft spot in my heart for Manowar and their super-cheese brand of metal. I'll have to say that they were definately the loudest band I've ever heard live. They had stacks of speakers probably 8'+ high on the stage behind them. Definately glad I brought some eagplugs to that show, or else I would've probably gone deaf.

Not to take up for Motorhead but are you saying that quality music is decided by Amazon's sales rank to the general public?

Oasis was huge and was influential in their time.
Motorhead is in the pantheon. They are among the most influential rock acts of all time. (Not top tier, but close)
No point in comparing, but those numbers don't tell the story.

I don't think he was using Amazon to prove which band was better, he was using Amazon ranks to counter the statement "metal garbage will always outlast pop garbage."

I didn't know I was dealing with Clarence Darrow.
