Great price on the 2005FPW. The one I'm looking at while I write this cost me $425 a few months ago and it was WELL worth it. Awesome monitor for an awesome price.

I'm not sure about the exact model number, but the 17" LCD that D.Pham00 speaks of was ranked #1 by Consumer Reports (for 17" LCD monitors) recently.

Might it have anything to do with what you're viewing on the monitor?
BTW, I got my new DELL system last week but haven't hooked it up. I go the Ultrasharp 19" that Phammy recommended over the standard one.
It was an extra $50.

Just ordered the 17" Ultrasharp... was too good a deal to pass up @ $185. I already have the standard 19" flat panel (which is good enough). The 17" ultrasharp will be for my wife's computer, most likely.

Everytime you see a post by DVD Josh here on DVDTalk, think of how he's posting.
I have the 19 inch. The 17 and the 19 aren't too great for gaming because of the response time, so there's a fair amount of ghosting. Doesn't bother me too much though. The 20 and 24 are supposed to be excellent.

It worked for me...although I did not order it
Also, I already have a 17" LCD monitor (Widescreen with TV tuner). Is it really worth it to upgrade for 3"?
I always like bigger and better....but my bank-account does not ;)

Be aware that the 2005FPW has a rather odd native resolution 1680x1050. For best results, make sure that your graphics card supports that resolution.

Thanks for that input....looks like I would have to update my video card too, since my current one is nothing special. Looks like I'm passing....money could be better spent elsewhere

generally speaking, each inch adds about 14% additional space for a standard (non-widescreen). 2 or 3 inches might not seem like a lot, but it does make quite a bit of a difference.

true, but i'm running my 2005fpw on the gf4 mx440. a newer equivalent shouldn't run ya more than $50. this is of course assuming you don't play games.

I initially had the same problem, but removed the coupon(s) and added the $60 one first (before it was below $500) and then applied the 40%. (By default it was already giving me 35%).

One of my PCs is running on GF4 MX 440 too. Does this card support a 1680x1050 mode? Mine is currently hooking up to a standard LCD at 1280x1024, and I don't see the 1680x1050 mode in the "List All Modes" dialog (perhaps you will only see it when you hook it up to this widescreen LCD???).

thats why most people recommend the ultrasharp, if you buy 19"
because of the lower refresh rate

did you download the latest reference drivers from nvidia? i think the drivers that came with the card did not have it, but the latest driver had it. it definately runs 1680x1050 fine. i use it for surfing the web and movies and it runs like a champ!

well, i've used the non-ultrasharp 17" (e173?) and the 170xfp and the ultrasharps are better even in the 17" level. other people in my company who bought the non-ultrasharp 17" also agree that the ultrasharps are better. definately worth the money if you use the monitor a lot.

I just got a new DELL system. Hooked it up today. I went with the 19" Ultrasharp as per Phammy's suggestion. This sure blows away my old 17" from DELL. I think it was seven years old.

I'm not sure what you're talking about. I'm assuming you mean response time, to which the Dell 1905FP is rated at 25 ms which results in some pretty mean ghosting when playing games, and which I own. What do you mean people recommend the Ultrasharp if you buy 19"? I'm talking about Ultrasharps specfically.

First of all, thanks for the deals! Second, Dell can suk my d**k.
I checked the deal out online for the 20" beauty. Everything looked good. Later , when I didnt have a computer handy, I called them and gave the coupons. Everything in order the indian CSR said $389 and I told him to make sure to send the invoice to my email...he didnt. So I called today for the invoice. The invoice said a price much higher than $389. So tax, fine, but I did the math and they only gave me to standard 30% off instead of 40%. This is a huge difference to me, especially when a multinational corporation is trying to take advantage of people. So I called...
The first CSR kept saying how it was 30%, 30%, 30% and I kept saying how I had a coupon, he just wasn't hearing me. Eventually i got frustrated and angry and asked for the supervisor.
The supervisor told me that "NO SUCH COUPON HAS EVER EXISTED!" And that there was one for 30%, but not 40% and even if there was one for 40% i would be higher than $389. So not only was he calling me a liar over and over again by saying there was no such coupon, but he was questioning my math and the dell.com site math! Not to mention humiliating me and treating me like dirt until I finally asked for his supervisor!
-he wasn't there-
At this point I was so raving mad i canceled the order. Trying to talk to those guys is a difficult task, very repetative and if it isn't on the little "how to" sheet in front of them, they dont know what to do.
But I got the corporate fax number (because, apparently, they dont have a phone number). I am writing corporate a letter telling them how dissapointed I am but I still want the monitor for the price i recieved when I ordered it, if not I will never do business with them again, not me, not the office i work for, not my friends, etc. Would anybody be willing to back me up? I know some of you got the deal!-So how can they say it never existed?
Sorry for the long post, I am still fuming.
Thanks.
