If anyone can answer where George Lucas got the idea for the character
of YODA I would be soooo appreciative.
I am a huge STAR WARS fan but probably not as big as some people on here. I thought I heard my answer in a docu but I have forgotten.
THANKS A MILLION to anyone with the answer. :) :)

The idea for the character itself? The characters look?
He created the character because he had killed off Ben in the previous film and now needed someone to train Luke. As far as the character design, you can see the various stages of development in some of the "making of" books -- most notably the ESB Sketchbook. Lucas wanted a short character; he started out very much like a garden gnome and developed from there.

Yoda is the bastard love child of Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy.
