I wonder which one this is. The David Lynch extended cut was rescheduled for July 26, but I was left to believe it was postponed indefinitely. I bet this is the Sci-Fi Channel version, two-disc or three-disc is anyone's guess.

Someone wanna explain why Target is charging MSRP for Mary Tyler Moore SHow season 2 AND ADVERTISING it. That just makes no sense and best buy's cheaper with reward zone program isn't making me sign up for the reward zone, but rather having me look elsewhere. Rant over.

Thanks for the ads though. I hope the extra bonus disc with battlestar makes this exclusive better but somehow I think I'll still just wait for the official sept. release.

Bummer. And back to the MTM season 2 issue. The reason the MSRP is lower on this set is to sell more copies, but when season 1 came out and was on sale it was 33.99 at best buy. This is hardly going to move more copies. Thanks Target.

Nice RZ prices on the season sets at Best Buy. Of course the only reason I'm a RZ member is because when i was buying the X-Files sets at $49.99 each, it would have been stupid not to get the membership. I got my fee back plus about $30 with all the stuff I bought.

So I'll snap up Remington Steele at that price.

as for what I'll buy...

Steamboy for sure, though I'm not sure if I'll bother with the giftset or just get the single disc.

Possibly 3rd Rock from the Sun. At $20 bucks, it's kinda tempting.

Im sure stores advertise at MSRP once in a while, but if they were to only advertise at MSRP eventually Im sure they would go out of business as they are advertising that they aren't competitive.

There are a lot of dumb people that think if something is in a sale ad it must be on sale.

That's extraordinarily close to a personal attack, even if you didn't single someone out, at least two us on here have posted that it doesn't make sense to advertise MSRP and then you post this.

Are you serious???? How? How was I calling you dumb? Did you think I was challenging your statement that advertising MSRP did not make sense?

You wrote:

Someone wanna explain why Target is charging MSRP for Mary Tyler Moore SHow season 2 AND ADVERTISING it. That just makes no sense

I then explained why it makes sense to the stores to sometimes do that.

Maybe you should read what I wrote again:

There are a lot of dumb people that think if something is in a sale ad it must be on sale.

That's my reasoning about why they put high prices in ads sometimes. How is it an attack on you? :hscratch:

Where does your statement say "it's in the sale ad so it's on sale and I'll buy it. Duuurrrrrrrrrrr"?

Mhepburn20-the first person to ever accuse me of being extraordinarily close to making a personal attack.

But it's cool because I still can say that no one has accused me of actually making a personal attack.

All Buford was trying to say is that some people (the J6P's of the world) aren't as savvy as us about what the retail price actually is, or even when stuff comes out. So, when they see the ad, they think "Wow, I didn't know this was coming out! And it's on sale too!" So they go and pick it up.

Damn. Why didn't I saw it that way? :p

An example would be my sister. She's very smart and makes around $300K per year. She probably has 500 DVDs, many of them TV box sets. I was telling her about DDD and she said she just gets everything at Target because it's on sale the first week. Oi.

I think she knows she could save some bucks but she doesn't want to bother looking around for deals. She would just prefer to grab it when she sees it on her weekly shopping trip to Target.

When you make $300K a year, you don't have to scour the ends of the Earth to save every last dime on a DVD. BTW, is she currently single?-wink-:)

But if she did look for bargains, then she'd save some money and be able to buy more stuff! I make a decent living, and I'm still doing 110% PM's at BestBuy every week to get my 10-20 cents extra. That shit adds up, and eventually I have saved enough to make another purchase.

I had a "Best Buy" moment at Circuit City today. A sales clerk was nice enough to locate a copy of Enter the Dragon for me (it was hidden behind something else). The back of case wasn't clear to me, so I asked him if the DVD was anamorphic. "No," he said, "it's live action."

Gotta love 'em.

BTW, it is anamorphic.

Heads-up for non-Best Buy Reward Zone members who want 3rd Rock From the Sun for $19.99... Because of the way that BB published the $19.99 price in their ad next to 3rd Rock, I was able to get Wal*Mart to price match it. It's easy for the Wal*Mart manager to miss the tiny "Reward Zone" disclaimer in the ad. Of course, YMMV...

It says "2 for $20." Why would each ring up for $10 if you only bought one? Then it wouldn't be a 2 for 20 sale, it's be a 1 for 10 sale.. Seriously, they do these sales and they put in one or two good titles and a bunch of crap that they're trying to move, so that people think they're getting a good deal, when in actuallity, they're paying an extra 10 bucks to get a movie they don't really even want that much.

I know when Target advertises a 2 for X sale, they always sell 1 for 1/2 X, but I wouldn't necessarily expect all other retailers to follow suit. I can understand his being annoyed, as he stated, but no more. He didn't indicate that he was expecting 1 for $10, just that he would rather have had that. I am somewhat curious if there is a legal issue in this. I know that in Kroger (supermarket), if some grocery is 2 for X, they must sell 1 for 1/2 X (I don't know if it is the law, or just store policy), but if it is b1g1, then one would pay the same price for 1 of the items as one would pay for 2.

The BB ad says something like the 2 for $20 must be purchased together or otherwise the individual price is $14.99, so they do cover themselves legally.
