World of Warcraft 14-Day Trial in this month's PC Gamer
I just got the latest issue of PC Gamer in the mail yesterday. Included on the DVD was a 14-day trial of World of Warcraft.
Just a heads-up for anybody interested in giving this a try without putting up $50.

If you like the game, you have to buy a retail copy. This includes another 30 days. After that, you have to buy a subscription to keep playing.

ahh, so when I buy the magazine it's got the full game on a disk or something? or do I download the whole thing from wow's site? sorry to be such a moron with this. I haven't ever bought/played a PC game before.

If you want to keep playing after the 14 days you do not have to buy the retail copy. You just keep playing, it is as simple as that. You will automatically be charged the $15 a month.

I don't have the magazine and dvd in front of me, so I don't know the details. I'll have to double-check for certain tonight.

Apparently in the magazine it self it does say that.

Found this post in the thread you linked to:
I knew there was no way the publisher would just be giving away one of their top-selling games like that.
Well, I just wasted 8 bucks. On the back of the cd case, it says that in order to continue your 14 day trial, you must buy the retail game. No where does it say you can continue to just pay the subscription price and continue playing. Again, it indicates you must purchase the game after 14 days to keep playing. Sorry folks.

so this, more or less, gives you the $50.00 game for free (minus the mag.)? that seems a little too good to be true. I believe it. I guess the monthly subscription thing adds up.

ahh, I must have been typing. oh well. it's probably for the best.
that thread linked is pretty amusing. there's one dude there that keeps repeating the false info. that all you need is the mag and that it hs the full game and full serial. then after it's been posted that once the trial expires, you need to buy the game and he's nowhere to be found.
