DVD Shelves

I'm looking for wall shelves to really showcase my DVD collection? Does anyone know of any? Not just generic wall shelves either, something that catches the eye and really looks modern.

You might want to show a pic of what YOU call modern. That isn't exactly a universally defined term.

Ikea, perhaps. For modern styles.

racksandstands.com has many different styles, decent place to start shopping if not buying.

I'm not really looking for anything like racksandstands has, I didn't see any shelves there. I'm looking for something very aesthetic that would really draw attention and showcase my DVDs. Doesn't any rack or stand seem too monotonous to do that? I'm talking about several shelves all on the same wall, each holding a different genre, but I haven't found the right shelves to do that. IKEA has some things that are alright, but not what I'm looking for, the closest I see are the checkmark shelves.

Build your own shelves, it's not hard and can be rewarding.

And yes, by 'rewarding' I do mean "a pain in the ass"

"Didn't see any shelves..." Um, did you try this link:

I kinda like this one, not generic at all. Not modern though:

More modern:

I like this one, we have one already. Not using it for discs, though:

Do you have a long wall and hundreds of DVDs? Try this if you have a long wall available.

Get some 8' or longer 1x6 boards. Get hardwood, less potential for warpage. Use some minimal support brackets so they are not obvious. DVDs are fairly light so you should be able to get by with small ones. Make an 8' or longer section of shelving on the wall, maybe 4 or 5 shelves high. Fill them with DVDs. Simple, easy, not too pricey and will definitely make them stand out. Might want to invest in a duster, too. Maybe paint them to a color that fits the decor.

People won't even notice the shelves, just the massive wall of DVDs.

I have these spinning rack shelves and they are awesome!

For the huge amount of dvds they hold, they are very space efficient and since they are four-sided, you can easily split each side into a genre. They look cool too:

There have been a number of threads over the years. Try searching on dvd storage, dvd racks, etc and you will get a LOT of ideas.
