I want to buy the Truffaut boxset Adventures of Antoine Doinel. What is the best option in price for Canadians? I'm worried about the shipping costs if I buy from an american site. The cheapest price I saw was $62.99 at superdupersavings, which in Canadian would be around $75, plus shipping and handling which could be up to $20 more. At this point I'm thinking amazon.ca is the best option, what do you guys think? It's $100 Canadian, but free shipping. (Best Buy Canada has it with the outrageous price of $153, what is up with that?) I don't think any mainstream stores (other than Best Buy)would sell it like HMV here, it's only available online as far as I know.

Just wait until DDD has their next 20% off sale at the end of the year. Their Canadian shipping is US$4.95.

Plus GST, plus the collection fee.

Plus GST, plus the collection fee.

Actually, plus PST as well and it's still the best deal around.

Plus GST, plus the collection fee.

US$62.55 delivered to Canada from DDD during their sale compared to US$79.50 from amazon.ca. Both would be subject to GST and PST. The US$17+tax that you save would cover the collection fee several times over.

Best bet is definitely from the US. The prices of Criterions are ridiculous in Canada.

I agree. I just thought that it was important for the OP to know that there were charges other than the US$4.95 delivery charge involved.

Your pricing, as you mention, also assumes that the OP is willing to wait until the next DDD 20% off sale. If not, it's $71.96 plus shipping ($76.91), and the price difference doesn't cover the collection fee.

If it were me, I'd hold out for the sale. Otherwise, I'd order it from amazon.ca.

If BestBuy has it, why not PM it with amazon.ca?

Should come out to:
discount of 153 - 97 = 56 * 10% = 5.60
97 - 5.60 = 91.40CAN + tax.

I decided I'd rather pay the extra bucks because I'm impatient like that. I think heavy packages like boxsets would be charged more for shipping from the U.S right? Buying from amazon.ca meant no GST or PST and free shipping. Plus quicker delivery and less worry on my mind. I've had bad experiences with hidden charges. Well here's my order

I think that's fairly okay. I figured there'd only be at the most a ten dollar difference if I waited and bought from ddd. Oh well. Thanks for the advice anyways, maybe my next purchase will be during the sale. What is OP by the way?
