Does anyone else not like the new set of The Daily Show? The desk Jon Stewart sits at is now shaped like a peanut and the flowing graphics behind him are distracting. Also, the way guests sit at the edge of the desk for interviews is not working very well, probably because Jon isn't used to it. They should bring the couch back for at least that segment of the show instead. Or maybe once the show settles in with the new sets it'll get better.

I disliked it at first, but I'm getting used to it. It seems to me as though they're trying for a more legitimate news program feel, about which I'm skeptical.

What I find really distracting is the fact that they seem to have switched to digital video cameras.

The interview is the least important part of the show to me. I don't really care one way or the other as long as it remains funny. I am not distracted by any of the new graphics either.

Well, as of Thursday night the moving graphics behind him are gone.

He's commented on the new set every night this week, which is something he did not do the last time they built a new set. I can't help but think he's less than thrilled with the design.

I think it probably has more to do with fan response. The last set change wasn't as drastic, if I recall. It would be odd if Jon didn't have input on the new set before it was built.

I like the way the segment graphics are now shown on the screen behind him to the left, instead of the TV graphic overlays they used to do.

Also, this isn't the first time the Daily Show has gone sans couch for the interviews, although it might be the first time since Jon took the helm. Personally, I don't mind the interviews taking place at the desk, although I didn't mind the couch either.

Bernie Goldberg deserved it, given how ridiculous a lot of the claims in his books are.

(And merely having "and Al Franken Is #37" included in the title of the book just shows that he's desperately trying to be the right-wing's answer to Al Franken's books).

Jon said next time we will do this in your audiance, but some how I bet that never happens since the last time Jon appeared on one of Bernie's peers shows, that host was bitch-slapped harder than Bernie was by Jon.

That's the impression I'm getting too. I don't really mind it that much, although it's always annoyed me how whenever someone gets Jon in a difficult debate, he always falls back on the "we're just comedy" defense, when anyone with half a brain can see that they're more than that.

On the whole, I neither like nor dislike the new set. Probably the only thing about it that would annoy me is if some hottie comes on the show now, we don't get to see all of her, but since they cater almost exclusively to authors and politicians now, the chances of that happening is pretty slim.

Btw, it could happen here.

I'm not really a fan of this show. I understand the popularity (he is quite funny, IMO), but the format of the serious political talking points doesn't work for me. As soon as a point is risen that challenges his position on something, all he needs to do is crack a joke, make the audience laugh and move on.

I really dislike the location of the graphics. In the previous incarnation, they appeared in front of Jon, and this gave them importance, and made it like Jon was cracking his jokes from the background.

However, they're now behind him, placing the focus squarely on Jon, and making the graphics seem secondary.

I'm really psyched that Stephen Colbert is getting his own show, he is the best part of the show, even better than Lewis Black. The other "correspondents" are good, but Colbert takes deadpan comedy to a new level.

Equally annoying is the audience, especially in that Bernie segment. It seemed like the audience wasn't even paying attention. They just waited until Jon stopped talking and then started cheering like maniacs.

Normally I like Jon Stewart, but he just seemed especially arrogant in that segment. He was interrupting the other person every other time he spoke, it seemed.

To be fair, Jon did own up to that during the segment, when after interupting Bernie by cracking a joke he admitted, "it's very hard to talk to me."

I don't watch other new programs. However, I do watch the "Great Punditries as Read by Children," and it seems like Jon, even at his worse, is 10 times fairer to his guest than most new hosts.

The new set is more distracting than anything else...it would be nice if they turned off the screen in the back when he was just talking or joking! I like at least how they can show a picture of something on his right and he can put his hand up OVER it...

Jon Stewart is funny...but when it comes to his show it is as left as Bill O'reilly's show is right...very biased. Anybody who doesn't see the bias in both of these shows are delusional. It is really hard to find a straight forward unbiased news program on television and I think that is sad.

Just comparing Jon Stewart's interviews to other "news" show interviews (like on the O'Reilly Factor), and Stewart seems downright courteous to his guests.

And comparing Jon Stewart's interviews to other entertainment show interviews (e.g. Leno, Letterman, and O'Brien), and Stewart's interviews are much more substantial while also being funny.

We Tivo each night's show and don't really have time to watch all of it (with other shows taped as well). Usually go straight to their pre-produced packages since they are guaranteed hilarity. Skip the interviews.

I disagree completely! (As biased as O'Reilly?? Please!!!)

Politically, Jon Stewart seems to be a Moderate, as best as I can tell. (He's never really voiced his personal stands on most issues, so it's hard to tell).

The fact is that he (and the show) have never shown an actual political leaning - they slam Liberals a lot, just not as much as they currently slam the Conservatives. But this is because the Conservatives are the ones currently in power. So what would seem to some to be anti-conservative is actually just making fun of whatever group is in charge. The more ridiculous the group in charge, the more funny material the show has. (And the group in charge now has been a comedy goldmine!)

As Proof: Jon Stewart made just as much fun of Clinton during 1999 & 2000 - his 1st two years as host and Clinton's last two years as Prez - as he does of Dubya now.
