What should I buy in Japan

I'm in Japan and want to bring back some cool videogame related crap. I see a new red Nintendo DS came out and I'm thinking of picking that up. Any disadvantages to getting a japanese DS? What other stuff should I be looking at?

If you have a DC you can get an incredible selection of games for $1-10. In general if you hit the second hand game stores you can get great deals on games. Also, certain games that might be very rare in the US are often easier to find in Japan (for action games the language barrier may not be such an issue).

You can pick up lots of daft anime based games which never come out over here too .

Get the gunslinger girl games for PS2 I heard those are a blast. Also over in Southeast asia they have really amazing boxed set's of all types of movies....I believe it was the japanese version of Troy that came in a wooden box! and oh my the Anime you could pick up over there......I envy you, when I was in asia last I had no idea what kind of media goldmine I was in.

While you're buying the kitkat, buy one of those cool self heating pancakes with built in sachet of maple syrup.

I've seen some interesting kit-kat varieties, including a kit-kat drink. I might get an electric tea kettle that keeps the water at the right temp all day.

asian junk food is usually salty and/or fish flavored while american snacks are usually candy. ketchup flavored chips also aren't anything new. i'd love to try those green tea kit kats though.

I could name you about a million 2D shooters like the Pskyo packs that are out over there for the PS2. They seem to have a ton of really cool videogame toys out there too. Try to pick up the Mario Bros. Stage figs, good stuff.

You could buy one of those life size pillows that have one of the Dead or Alive girls on it. You could buy fake real looking guns and get shot by the police when you get back to the states. hmm I don't think the light guns will work on US tvs. I think the second version of that game where you roll stuff is out there. Pick up some gay dating sims to learn all about male love. Buy some beer from the vending machines.

They have these little collectable toys the put in sushi.

Btw, I was able to buy 2 light guns and a copy of House of the Dead 2 for DC, for 2500 yen total.
