Halo 2, 16:9?
Just got a 16:9 hdtv and the hd pack. Hooked it up, changed the settings to accept 480, 720 and 1080. Played Halo 2 and it seemed like the cinematics are 16:9 yet the game is only 4:3. What gives? Thanks.

I'm having the same problem then. I've never seen halo 2 in widescreen. I know my group of friends xboxs are set up properly. The radar and reticle are a bit stretched. Not too much, but you can tell. So is the word halo on the title screen. So are in game objects like overshields.
The only time that the game isn't stretched is when you're playing 2 player co-op. Give it a shot and see the difference.

Can anyone point to a source that this does indeed contain the fix for the HUD display problem on some 16:9 sets? I recall Bungie saying it wasn't possible to have this fix installed from disk and only from L!ve. Which of course ticked me of since my TV is one that has the display problem.

Mine was fixed over LIVE. Of course I did it from LIVE, so I have no help for you there.
I have a 55" Mits....before I could not see the grenades count, now everything is fine.

The Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack should now be available in retail stores across the planet. The disc itself contains nine Halo 2 maps, a bonus cinematic, a behind-the-scenes documentary and all Halo 2 auto-updates. More information about the disc itself can be found over at Xbox.com.

Also, from Bungie's site. But it did take me about 15 seconds to look that one up.

I rented the map pack and it hasn't fixed the problem. The radar and reticle are still not perfectly "circle". It is still a bit stretched. I tried to download the update from the multiplayer pack but it said I've already downloaded it before and installed it. Any advice?

I don't think halo is made for widescreen. I have the same issues with the game. It's passable, but the geometry isn't perfect. Take a look at the co-op mode in widescreen. Now thats perfect.
