Problems with my X-Box... Help!

So I was playing baseball online, and all of the sudden, my X-box powered off briefly and then turned back on again. This is the third time it has happened in 2 days, which sucks because now I have 3 drops online so nobody will want to play me. Not to mention the fact that it always happens when I am actually winning.

I ordered the replacement power cord a few months ago when X-Box had the trade in, so the new one should be good. Any advice? Should I move all of my other electronic components to a different power strip or something?

Could be a heat issue. Is it in a ventilated area?

I had my alarm clock, a small fan and the DSL modem plugged into it also.

It is sitting on my dresser next to my TV. I have my satellite receiver sitting on top of it, but the sides where the vents are have nothing blocking them.

I have never had any problems with it until last nite. I went ahead and unplugged everything else but the modem from the power strip. Hopefully it will work a little better now.

Sounds like your power supply is going. You can try switching back the old chord and relying soley on the internal one, however 1)It is likely something inside the xbox, not the new cable, and 2) You risk starting a fire.

I do suggest you give it a try and see if that isolates the problem, then you will at least know its your new cable. Good luck.

Well I unplugged everything from the power strip and the damn thing did it again, so I don't know what to do.

I think something is wrong with the new power cable or the system. I think I'm gonna call MS tomorrow or tuesday and find out what the hell is going on.

Now I have 3 drops. Doubt I'll find too many people who want to play against me now

sounds like your power supply is dying. if it does just shut off and then you try to restart and lights are flashing on the front that is heat. i would make sure the fan in your box is running though. if your box is modded i would say either your lpc wasn't put on right or if you've got a solderless one its been moved around and scratched the crap outta the traces. that will make very odd things happen to your box.

I don't think it is heat because it just restarts immediately like I hit a reset button or something. It isn't modded, so I'm not worried about any of the issues BeanDip was talking about.

Have you tried my advice yet?

I'll look for it, and try to see if it works.
