Arcade Game Challenge #42 (7/2-???)

Welcome to Arcade Game Challenge XLII!
I think we're on our 4th name now, but it's still the same game.

I am going to host the list of all the past winners and high scores here.
You have to take care of finding the games yourself.

The Rules:
  1. To enter, you just play one of the games and post a screenshot with your score.
  2. The deadline to post a high score has passed
  3. Any games should be played with one credit and no continues or any features that you wouldn't get by playing the actual machine.
  4. Submitted scores should be played during the designated time period, not scores you've gotten in the past.
  5. The winner can pick any arcade game that we haven't already played for the next thread.
  6. If you play and beat any of the high scores from the previous games we've played, you can submit them here for the All Time Top Scores.

The Games:
(click the games for info and how to play)

Amidar - Score to beat: D300 121960

Current Leader Chooses: Tron

Smash TV - Score to beat: IgnatiusReilyII 3452920

Current Leader Chooses: Mouse Trap

Spectar - Score to beat: IgnatiusReilyII 44810

Current Leader Chooses: Super Space Invaders '91

The Prize:
Whoever gets the high score for one of the current games picks the next game that replaces it. You also get your name engraved permanently etched onto this eye catching trophy with a genuine Sharpie!

The Winners:

I can't remember any other video game that gives a free game for beating the high score.

But the game doesn't award the player any extra men, which would actually be more helpful in the "quarterless" here and now. Still, I enjoyed those free games back in the day...!

(NB: the last is with one credit only...I swe-AH!)

Awesome score on Smash TV. What kind of controller are you using? Where were you when we played Robotron?

Most racing games still give you a free race if you take 1st place.

Arigato gozaimasu! I use a USB Logitech WingMan RumblePad for that super-sweet, dual-stick action!

I thought you liked my stick and balls too and they're finally working.
Even with these controls I can't come close to IR2's score. It would take me 3 dollars in credits to beat his score.

And you couldn't beat my Berzerk score with that?

I'm out for now, my internet isn't up until next Friday and I just bought a new monitor and it's giving me issues.

Well, it looks like no one picked a game for me from the previous challenge. Can I just make my pick for the next round (#43)? I'd like to go with Dragon Breed.

Since I'll be gone all of next week, I'm just gonna sit out this round of challenge...

I just went ahead and cut it to 3 games if I wanted to try going back to weekly. I think I have a different idea though. What if all the high scores stand for three days without being defeated, we declare the winners and let them pick new games? But everyone has to have picked their replacement games, otherwise they're all still up for grabs. That way the thread doesn't just die. Then maybe I would get people to actually pick a new game when they post their score, like I always wanted

In fact, if there is no disagreement, we can try it now. Igniatius's scores have been up for almost a week. Pick three games before anybody beats you and I'll just make a new thread. If we do it this way, I'll add Dragon Breed as the fourth, so then four scores have to stand for three days.

Sorry for the funny looking screenshot, the game ends too fast to get a good one.

Wow, great score! You must have found a foolproof way to get the bananas at every opportunity. I tried mapping out a battle plan (e.g., if I hit the button on the third top rung, the pig will go for the fourth bottom rung), but I still couldn't get it to work every time. Oh well. Can't argue with your game choice. I'm surprised no one has picked TRON before, although it is a bit difficult to play without a spinner.

As for me, if my two scores hold, I'd still like to see everyone try out MOUSE TRAP and SUPER SPACE INVADERS.

You just have to map out the path starting from the banana to the top, to figure out which rung to drop the pig. I can't get the 5000 every time because sometimes I take too long to figure out the path and the pig drops by itself.
