R4 - New Australian Film Classification format
Region 4 - New Australian Film Classification format.
To those non-Australian's who purchase DVDs from Region 4 (Australia) you will soon notice the NEW OFLC (Office of Film and Literature Classification) Logos on DVD packaging.
Us here Down Under will now see BIG COLOURED BOXES on the lower left side of the box - detailing the 'reasons' for the classification.
To the guys at DVDPlaza.com.au - they are BIG AND UGLY and destroy the cover artwork.
Here's a few examples :

http://www.ezydvd.com.au/item.zml/780704
http://www.ezydvd.com.au/item.zml/780349
don;t you like how the BLUE and YELLOW fit into the artwork ???
You may question - why did Australia need to change its film classifiication format ??
The simple answer is that parents in Australia simply don't know our rating system - nor the difference btw The Wiggles and Last Tango in Paris. (It was also implemented so that computer games will have the same logo - however NO R rated games will be allowed into Down Under (no - can't have that !!!)
Our humble apologies to the rest of the world - don't blame us - please blame Aussie Parents.

LOL....this does indeed look ugly! But why not put the logo on the shrink-wrap...?? You are absolutely correct...this simply destroys the cover work.
I thinkt though that we can still export a few "big heads" to Australia...we seem to have mastered the art.

The funny thing is that some people, especially kids, use this info to find out which movie to rent or watch on TV. So at the end of the day it has the opposite effect of what was intended in the first place.

Don't blame ignorant, disinformed and stupid parents for the Australian censor who styles himself on a Nazi state.
What depresses me is just how easy the distributors accept this shit.
I suppose the one good thing here is the last Oz censor opened up his own porn company

Oh geez. You guys print all our DVD's, so I'm gonna have to put up with this shit as well. At least before with the wording it wasn't as distracting (but still a total pain in the ass), but that's just ugly. I always peeled off the classification stickers that they put on our ones, but when I do now, it'll have that thing under it.
Just another reason for me to buy all my DVD's from R1. Why we need giant ugly ratings ruining our covers while N. America get teeny, tiny ones on the back of the packaging is beyond me. Thank god for my multi-regional DVD player.

NOPE - these aren't stickers !! There's no taking these ugly ratings off the covers.
Here's some more examples of what the Australian Film Classifications will look like :

No other western country will have a ratings logo as large as this !!!

I forgot to say that those stickers are pretty much what our ones look like, with the colours and all. G is green, PG and M are yellow and R16 and R18 are red. Example:
They really must think we're a bunch of idiots

Rating stickers/logo are awful. I just returned from Singapore and the DVD I bought there has those awful rating stickers (fortunately it's just a sticker), and it's really hard to peel them off.
