Are commercials shot in HiDef?
With my new HiDef tv - I've been really digging the new technology and I just had a basic question, since HiDef is trying to become the mainstream are commercials shot exclusively in HiDef nowadays- or still on conventional video/film?

actually how large are HiDef camera anyway, any one got a pic of one, I would assume they really don't differ from traditional camera's - since local Washington DC news channel 9 (CBS) films (in studio and out in the field) and broadcasts in HiDef.

99% of commercials are NOT shot in high def, or at least, they are rarely presented that way. Outside of huge events like the Super Bowl, the high-def ads are few and far between...rare enough that when you are fast forwarding your DVR and you see one go by, you usually reverse and watch it.

You know those American Express commercials? The ones that have a single celebrity like Robert DeNiro, Ellen Degeneres or Laird Hamilton talking about their lives and how AMEX is just great for them? The Kate Winslet one is available in HD; I saw it during one of the season finales - 24? Lost? Desperate Housewives? - back in May.
As far as I can remember, that's the only HD commerical I've ever seen (outside of Discovery HD Theatre promos, that is).
Kate Winslet in HD = ++

There aren't many yet. You'll see more as HD becomes more mainstream.
I've seen Ipod, BMW, and Target HD ads among the ones mentioned above on network television.
