Jurassic Park Lost World question
I see Circuit City has a good price on The Lost World this week. May be time to replace my VHS copy.
But I'm confused by the reviews. The same reviewer recommends it, then says rent it.
Is there a version I want to get, and one I want to avoid? How can I tell them apart? Anyone know which one CC is selling?
Thanks for the help.

IIRC, there is a Widescreen DTS version, a WS Dolby version and a fullscreen Dolby version. So just make sure you get widescreen and your audio of choice.
As for the reviews, I imagine he's recommending buying the DVD, but renting the movie as many folks don't regard it as highly as the first one.

For what it's worth, I'm still confused.
The problem is there are multiple reviews, maybe talking about different releases, but they all feature the same case photo.
A guess - maybe the standard collector's edition is recommended, but the DTS version is not, because some extras have been removed from it???
All I have for sound is my TV speakers. I know, I need something else. It's on my list of things to do.

All of the 3 editions are the same -- the difference is screen shape and sound format.
You have 2 Dolby Digital versions: fullscreen and widescreen
You also have a 3rd (widescreen) version that uses DTS.
Just choose whatever version best matches your setup.
As far as differing reviews, that's just a case of different strokes for different folks. Some people like the movie, some people don't. (I'm in the latter group.)

Just so you know, not all versions of The Lost World are the same. The DTS one loses certain supplements that are on the DD version. The DTS lacks deleted scenes and a lot of production artwork and some other additional supplements that I can't remember off the top of my head. Since I'm such a Jurassic Park completionist, I had to get both versions. If deleted scenes and production artwork and other various supplements aren't for you, get the DTS. Otherwise go for the DD.

The confusion isn't from different reviewers having different opinions, but the same reviewer having different opinions.
With just standard TV speakers, I don't see much need for DTS. I guess I'll go with the DD then.
And widescreen/OAR is the only format I consider valid.
