Paramount Survey - Pricing of Star Trek Season Sets

http://www.startrek.com/startrek/pag...ernal?id=12054

looks like they want to see what kind of interest people would have buying TOS/ENT/DS9/VOY at $59.95 per season instead of their over-bloated $130ish per season MSRP (obviously nobody buys at MSRP)...

not that it really matters, as everything but the rest of enterprise and TAS is out, maybe if enough people "show interest" in lower prices, they'll drop them and those who haven't picked em up because of the high prices could pick them up at a lower one...

I took the survey and the prices showed at $49.99 per season. I'd certainly start buying the Star Trek sets if they were at that price, instead of the ridiculous $100+ price they are at now. Hopefully, Paramount will realize they need to lower the price to get the casual fans to start collecting, and bring it in line price wise with other popular genre shows like Buffy, Angel, and Stargate, which I believe all have outsold Star Trek.

Hmmm, the price point shown in all my survey questions was $39.99.

Interesting, huh?

At $100+ per, I would not buy DVDs for TNG nor could I ask for them for birthday/holiday/etc. But at $50 or less, they would go right to the top of my wishlist.

Dammit, $59.99 here. I'm messing it up for the rest of yall. Yeah, definitely, these are worth a tumble at under 50 bucks a piece. A price drop is just what these DVD series need.

They were asking about $39.99 when I did it. I would buy all seven seasons of DS9 and TNG at that list price (which would be $30-ish retail), as well as all three TOS seasons. I have no interest in Enterprise or Voyager.

Though I personally wouldn't buy any of the series, I did take the survey and say I would buy the series at lower prices. $130 retail is a ridiculous precedent.

The MSRP said $39.99 on mine. I Would pay that much for every Trek set out. I'm a geek. Not a $100 a set geek though.

I got $49.99. And yes, at that price I would buy more Star Trek DVDs. As it stands I only have two seasons of TNG and I can't bring myself to spend $100 on any more, but for $50 a piece I'd probably buy all of TNG and maybe a few DS9.

The only thing is, the survey asks if you would pay that much for Seaons 1 of each series. Hopefully if they do lower the price, they don't just do it for Season 1 and keep the rest the same.

The MSRP was $39.99 on my version of the survey, as well.

I'm eventually going to bite the bullet and get TOS regardless of the price....but at at the $39.99 pricepoint, I would get season sets of some of the other series, as well(TNG for sure, probably DS9 and Enterprise, as well)

I wonder if that is why they're considering dropping the prices...to get more people to purchase multiple series instead of just the ones they REALLY have to own...

I'd definitely be buying many of these at prices substantially lower than the current rates.

Perfect example: several of these sets sit on my DeepDiscount wish list .... and still sit there even with the current sale, because there is simply too much competition for my DVD budget to actually go for overpriced items.

$59.99 for me, and I indicated that I thought that wasn't a good value. For $39.99, I'm sure I'd consider trying out DS9 since I never watched it when it was on. They could drop Voyager down to $5 and I still doubt I'd bother though.

yeah, yeah.. I know ....

49.99 on my survey. I have a feeling that knowing Paramount, the price cuts will come and we will see HD versions take over the old $120 price points.

These sets were way too much money but a lot of Trek fans bought them regardless.

I got 39.95 on my survey. I already have DS9 and TNG which I love (and didn't pay MSRP on anyway). Though I want VOY I just can't bring myself to pay more than $40 for it.

I got $59.99. I also noticed the constant reference to First Season. I would hope they would drop the price on all seasons because I have no desire to pick up season 1 at a reduced price and then not be willing to pay the high prices to complete the series. DS9 is the only one I thought was worth the high prices and I already own that.

Yep, $59.99 here--let 'em know that it's a move in the right direction, but anything over $50 is still gonna be a no sale from me. I'm a huge STAR TREK fan but, damn, we're talking $1,400 for all 5 shows at a $50 price point...I think that's asking plenty, Paramount...

Just took it aprox. 3:30PM 23JUN2005 and the price given was $39.99 at that price I said I would definately buy it.

I think that my price limit would be the $59.99 at the absolute top, $49.99 would be better $39.99 best of the three, if they went down to somewhere between $25.00 - $29.99 I would start snatching them up BUT the current price is something like $120.00 for any of the damn things.
I marked the reason for not buying them as "Too Expensive" and "Other: Definately Too Expensive.

It showed $59.99 for me too. I would guess the price shows is based on what you say you have watched or bought.
