MAMEbowl #40 (6/16-6/23)

MAMEbowl XL is over!
We're going to have a new thread whenever I feel like it to see who can get the high score on 4 different arcade games in MAME.

Download MAME to play the games.
New to MAME? Feel free to ask questions here or read the tutorials
I am going to host the current ROMs and list of all the past winners and high scores here.

The Rules:
  1. To enter, you just play one of the games and post a screenshot (F12 key in MAME) with your score.
  2. The deadline to post your high scores will be 11:59 PM on Thursday.
  3. Any games should be played with one credit and no continues or any features that you wouldn't get by playing the actual machine.
  4. Submitted scores should be played during the designated time period, not scores you've gotten in the past.
  5. The winner can pick any game from MAME that we haven't already played for the next thread. Sequels are ok, but clones are not.
  6. If the winner doesn't pick a new game before the new thread starts, we will continue to play that game until someone else wins or the winner returns to choose a game. If a new game isn't chosen after 3 days, then the person with the next highest score gets the pick.
  7. If you play and beat any of the high scores from the previous games we've played, you can submit them here for the All Time Top Scores.

The Games:
(click the games for info and how to play)

Gauntlet II - Score to beat: ~~PAL~~ 24112

Ninja Princess (128k ver.) - Score to beat: devilshalo 115300

Rompers (Japan) - Score to beat: devilshalo 171760

Twin Cobra (US) - Score to beat: IgnatiusReilyII 757050

The Prize:
Whoever gets the high score for one of the current games picks the next game that replaces it. You also get your name engraved permanently etched onto this eye catching trophy with a genuine Sharpie!

The Champs:

Since apparently the romset for Ninja Emaki is partially bad, I also posted the Japanese version on the site. Play either one. I assume there is no difference to the game. I just think there is less chance of running into a problem with the Japanese version crashing or having some other problem in the middle of the game.

Oh well, it's not the one I thought it was.

I can still change it to Ninja Princess or whatever before someone posts a score. Just say the word.

Ninja Princess rocks it, change it.

Rompers is cool too (pre-disposed to like any Namco game).

I'll take Pixy's word for it and change Ninja Emaki to Ninja Princess.

then try renaming the file to the name of the parent rom. You've said before you always seem to have trouble running the clone versions on the Mac. All the files are contained in the zip file for the parent and the clone.

Apparently everybody loves this quarter sucking game as much as me

One of my all time favorite games. Not bad for the first time playing in years.

The trick is to not die on the first level so you get the extra points for the bonus stars you pick up along the way. Also, at that point your fire power (I suggest the blue spread shot) helps you pick up all the additional power ups and hit as many enemies as possible.

Like I said this is one of my favorite games. It just took me a while to get back the feel for the game.

He did say he hadn't played it in a while. Must've just had to work off the rust.

Thanks for the tip. I was just sticking with the red and avoiding the yellow and green weapons.
