Review of Officer's Ward R2 UK?
I'm looking for reviews or comments on the quality of the R2 UK edition of the film Officer's Ward. Is the video transfer anamorphic?

I do not have a review posted regarding the UK disc but do have the French double disc reviewed. Look here:
http://www.nicheflix.com/reviews/officersward.html
With this said, the UK disc does not live up to the standards of the French disc which offers a spectacular DTS track and plenty of extras (not subbed in English). Even if you were to pick only the single version of the French disc...it is still the better option when compared to the UK disc.
Double French dvd set (with optional English subs)

Single dvd set (with optional English subs).

DO NOT ORDER this version (also sold at Amazon.fr) as this is the Benelux version that comes without English subs (only Dutch subs).

NOT!
He had a look at the French release here
Comment on the UK Optimum disc here
I have seen the UK disc and when it was shown on BBC digital and it's pretty good.
I quite liked the film but felt something went wrong with it. Don't know what, so I'll rewatch it.
Anyway, go for the French disc. Be careful though as there looks to be at least 3 separate releases. One is from Belga and this doesn't have English subs AFAIK.

If buying from Amazon Marketplace email the seller to make sure 100% it has English subs ie is a TF1 release.

The moral of the story is "never to order a DVD from CDWow based on its advertised cover". I hope that I didn't cause anyone else to get into the same predicament with my previous post.

There are actually a number of Benelux titles being sold there (nonw of them with English subs). For French releases...go straight to the source (Amazon.fr). Unless you are 100% sure you would get the French version of a film (example...A Very Long Eng.....)
