Star Wars books...

There seems to be quite a bit of stuff out there about the Star Wars world...I'm curious as to what's some of the great stuff, and what to avoid.

Long ago (several years?), in a location probably within 50 miles of where I now sit, I read Tales from Mos Eisley (at least I think it was called that...might be off a bit), which basically explained who everyone in the cantina scene in Ep. 4 and how they got there. It was pretty cool from what I could recall.

I guess I'd really like to read more stuff that ties the movies together, having recently watched Volume 1 of "The Clone Wars" cartoon, which I enjoyed very much.

Working at a bookstore and having essentially just Sunday to get 40% discount on any of it, I'd like to know what to snag.

Any help is appreciated!

Shadows of the Empire is set between ESB & ROTJ. Great read IMO and fills in some info about stuff seen in ROTJ. This is the only novel set between the OT movies (involving main characters). The rest of the OT related books are set after ROTJ.

The Zahn trilogy (Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, Last Command) is 5 years after ROTJ and is also very good. Many people rank these as some of the best.

If you liked the Cantina stories, there is another out for Jabba's Palace as well as a bounty hunter one staring the bounty hunters seen in ESB. Not essential but fun reads.

Thanks for the suggestions resinrats...looks like I'll take a look at Shadows...

For those who read this even after Sunday (6/12), feel free to give other suggestions. I'll still get 30% off, and hell, even if I lost my job tomorrow, I'll still be buying books...

D'OH! I just found another thread involving discussion of the books (the one comparing Episode 3 the book to the movie)...

Feel free to merge/close this thread.

I don't know whether you're talking about EU books or books about Star Wars. But I can't recommend many EU books other than the new Labrynth of Evil and the Zahn trilogy of books.

As for books about Star Wars, I'd say look for these books:

Skywalking
Dressing the Galaxy: The Costumes of Star Wars
The Art of Star Wars books
The Making of Star Wars Episode III
Star Wars and Philosophy

I simply can’t get myself to read books. Sometimes I wish I could
