Clueless: Special Edition - August 30th
Amazon has just listed the Clueless: SE for August 30th with a price of $13.99. No specs at this time (except that it's in Widescreen).
I know that it supposedly the "Whatever Edition," but I refuse to call it that.

I thought "As if" was a better term for this movie. Regardless, at least it's widescreen and at a good price.

Actually, DVD Answers has just posted details:
Paramount Home Entertainment has also announced plans to release a special edition of Clueless this August. The film stars Alicia Silverstone, and will be available to own from the 30th August this year. Retail will be around $19.99. As well as an anamorphic widescreen transfer and English Dolby Digital 5.1 track, the disc will include seven making of featurettes and two theatrical trailers. Paramount hasn't made available the artwork yet I'm afraid, but we'll bring you that very shortly. Stay tuned for that.
Seems like another Paramount half-hearted special edition, complete with EPK-riddled "featurettes" that last for about 5-10 minutes each. Although it's not necessary for every movie, this one probably had some decent deleted scenes and what is Amy Heckerling doing these days that would keep her from doing a commentary? I'm glad this is getting something, but I am a little disappointed.

If the original release is anamorphic AND 5.1, I can't imagine upgrading.
Carry on.

I loved this movie, bought it on Laserdisc years ago when it came out. Watch it every night with my brother for a week. Alicia ruled....................then vanished.
I'm older now (32), probably won't buy it, but have fond memories of it nevertheless.

Thanks for posting the details on this! The "special" features aren't very impressive, but I'm still buying as I kept myself from buying the first edition. I wish Heckerling would do a commentary though, she was really interesting on the "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" DVD.

From Davis DVD:
Final specs and cover art have just arrived for Paramount's Clueless: The "Whatever" Edition. The disc arrives with a 1.85 anamorphic transfer, Dolby Digital 5.1 and 2.0 stereo tracks. Extras include the featurettes "The Class Of '95" (looking at the cast then and now), "Creative Writing" (director Amy Heckerling talks about creating the world of Clueless), "Fashion 101" (how the filmmakers invented the trend-setting fashions that defined the movie), "Language Arts" (director and cast give the 411 on the groundbreaking slang), "How To Play The 'Suck n Blow' Game," "Driver's Ed" (get behind the wheel with the cast and crew), "We're History" (stories from the cast and crew on the making of Clueless) and two trailers. Clueless is due on August 30th with a retail of $19.99.
(Ugly) cover art is available there. I have to say, I'm still really disappointed in this release. Unless those featurettes are just filled with substance, then this release seems generally useless. And cover art won't deter me from ever buying something, but this is still some nasty cover art. Shame...just a Heckerling commentary would have made it worth it.
