WALKABOUT-16:9 out next week in Germany!

http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASI...579291-4050913

it is 18 Euros, however. (actually that drops to 15.50 E after VAT is subtracted)

weve gotta start a buying club

Interesting.

I have several versions of this on DVD and the best is recorded from Digital BBC1. Great transfer compared to the the Criterion and the Australian release.

Kinowelt did an amazing job of Picnic at Hanging Rock here so here's hoping they come up trumps. I'd like that price to drop to €9.99 too just like PAHR did for a few weeks.

as for the price dropping to 10 E-I couldnt wait-I love WALKABOUT.

I said that Kinowelt are doing it -unfortunately- that's incorrect. 'MC One Classic' is the distributor.

It is listed as anamorphic. Here's hoping it is worth the bother.

well, since I dont believe it is 16:9 anywhere in the world-at least a new transfer is guaranteed-lets hope they do it justice. never heard of the company.
ugly cover though. may just have to recruit the Criterion cover with some Photoshop touch ups.

that company is a very new one on the dvd-market, i first heard of them approx. 2 years ago
in my oppionion this company is to become very big in germany, though they hadn't have any blockbusters in their catalog, yet

some very good dvds this company released are (which I also have): donnie darko, high tension, infernal affairs, cypher, the cooler, ong-bak, etc.
they try hard to satisfy the customer by providing their dvds with good picture/sound and extras, if available

i checked their website for additional information and it says that this dvd is 16:9 with an anamorphic transfer

here is the link http://www.mc-one.de/movies/index.ph...id=219&art=dvd

unfortunately it's completely german, but if you got any questions feel free to ask me, i'll answer them, however i think it ain't hard to understand

Here is a review of the german DVD: http://www.digital-movie.de/dvd-revi...asp?ArtNr=4722

It says, the Criterion is the clear winner in picture quality !

Looks very poor.

It's criminal this wonderful film has never had a much deserved new transfer.

I wouldn't get het up over the Criterion release as it's very poor. A not very good laserdisc transfer shoved on a DVD.

I see a comparison with the German disc here

I think they're all very poor.

Looks like I'll be holding on to my BBC version for a while yet.

hmmm...it dont look as bad as I imagined. The CRITERION is a bit sharper, but the MCONE has more depth and probably more accurate colors.
The travesty is the OZ disc. I may try for it on eBay if under 10E

BBC

I really didn't think the Oz disc was as bad as DVDBeaver said. I think their response was way over the top and I'd go as far to say they have something wrong with their setup.

Anyway, the Australian disc looks just like all the others I've seen (UK, Criterion, Oz) -garbage.

Only my 16-9 BBC copy hints at what we should be getting. A few grabs here

Not perect but it'll do.
