Hey all,

Is convergence a basic setting in all CRT RPTV's? That is, after a move, can you re-allign if nec.?

In the service menu, yes, but I wouldn't call that a basic setting.

Aahh,

So after a move, and if the colors were not aligned perfectly and needed adjustment, then the setting isn't under the basic menu with video settings, etc -- it's under the service menu then.... right? Got it. I have the service manual for the tv -- I hope it tells me how to get into the service menu.... i'll have to check....

Depends on your TV. I can do both a single point and multi point convergence in the standard menus. I know by boss has to go into the service menu to be able to do the multi point on his Sony.

So the answer is "it depends". If you post your TV model, I'm sure someone can give a definite answer.

X,

Haha... We'll, since you've taught me to combine threads with similar topics, this wasn't in reference to the Hitachi; or i would have posted it as a response to that thread. You taught me well. It was just a generic question, cause a few people had asked me. I just didn't know if there were at least basic convergence settings in the "regular" menu of most, if not all, RPTV's...

Most have a basic convergence in the standard menu, with a higher-point-number convergence in the service menu. If you are willing to take the risk on yourself, you can easily find the way into the service menu on the web. But if you tweak the wrong setting, you can damage your set, so it is not something to do lightly.
