The Contender Live 2 Hour Finale - 5/24/05

Remember that tonight is the live 2 hour finale at Caesar's Palace Las Vegas.

Peter Manfredo Jr. vs. Sergio Mora for the championship

Alphonso Gomez vs. Jesse Brinkley for 3rd place

Also, as mentioned in Sunday's thread, there are 3 fan favorite fights. Ishe vs. #1 Daddy is gonna be off the hook.

The other 2 matchups are Jimmy vs. Tarick and Brent vs. Jeff (Chickenpox guy)

Didnt know about the fan favorite fights,i guess thats cool as long as we get to see the entire main bout and not the usual "edited" version.

They won't be edited as they're live. They'll just have the little "picture in picture" window with crowd/family reactions like they did with the fan favorite fights this afternoon.

Have they said if they're showing the fan faves on the show? I streamed them but couldn't really pay attention. Ishe vs #1 Daddy I'd really like to see for real.

Round 1 was Jesse. Round 2 I give the slight edge to Jesse. Round 3 is definitely Phonso's round as he cut Jesse.

If I knew that they were taking bets, I definitely would've bet on Phonso considering he's a big underdog

Phonso wins an unanimous decision.

49-46 on 1 card and 48-47 on the other 2.

He wins 200K and a Toyota Tacoma.

Phonso looked much bigger today. Looks like he's been in the weight room since the taping of the show ended.

Tough fight to score.

Sergio clearly took round 4. Peter could barely stand at the end of the round

way too much clenching in this fight.

So far, I have Sergio up 3-2. He's throwing far more combo punches that are scoring.

Sergio dominated round 7. Peter had absolutely no gas and his punches had no zip.

Sergio was still throwing combos and his punches had a lot of zip.

I'm also surprised that Serg was able to do so well fighting in the clench.

wow, Sergio dominated the scorecards. He won 7 rounds to none on 1, 6 rounds to 1 on the other and 5 to 2 on the third. I had Sergio winning 5 rounds to 2.

The 2 Mexicans rise to the top.

What the hek was up with #1 Daddy flipping Ishe? Ishe's hat was hilarious. It said "I'm the #1 Daddy"

Madd props to Sergio. He clearly won the fight.

Still, something inside of me says that Ishe was the best fighter here and if the Sergio Ishe fight were 7 rounds, Ishe would've won. I'd love to see a Sergio-Ishe rematch.

So sad that this show isn't getting renewed

Mora kicked that ass and Peter almost fell out right at the end.

Congrats to Mora, he hands down deserved the victory.

Jessie pissed me off as he obviously thought he could win based on his size and confidence alone. I wanted him to win the whole thing but after the fight tonight I'm glad Gomez took it.

"I'm the #1 daddy" so damn funny and I'm glad "che" beat him as well.

Great show and I really hope there will be another but............................more than likely there won't be. So sad man, so sad.
