Will We Ever See These Wes Craven Movies on DVD?
I'm a huge Wes Craven fan and would really like to see the following movies on DVD, what are the chances?
Deadly Blessing (1981)
Deadly Friend (1986)
Episodes of "Nightmare Cafe" (1991)
Casebusters (1986) (TV Movie)
Night Visions (1990) (TV Movie)
Other than that and the porn film "Together" in 1971, all of Craven's other films are on DVD...we need them!!!

"Together" seems to be the only one he now openly admits to working on, but even that took years for him to admit. "Together" also apparently wasn't a full on hardcore movie. Craven did edit a hardcore movie called "It Happened In Hollywood" before that. Craven also ACTS in a porn movie called "Sweet Cakes" in an uncredited role as a photographer. He also is rumored to have directed something called "Angela, The Fireworks Woman"
Sean Cunningham was a notorious porn producer before he ever did "Last House on the Left".
A few of the actors in Last house were hardcore actors (Fred Lincoln, I think there is one more).

I'd like to see some proof of these ALLEDGED porn movies he worked on. Every book I've read simply states, Together as his FIRST FILM, he was an English professor then a cab driver right before TOGETHER was made...

I believe that Craven edited many porno films in his younger days.
It paid the bills as a second income and taught him how to handle raw film.
It also was a gateway for the contacts he made to become the wonderful...cough...cough...filmmaker he is today. To be fair his early stuff is really good.
I don't think he was ever a true "smut peddler" in the sense of the word.
And "Together" was basicly soft core fluff.
Even Francis Ford Coppola started out in nudies cuties.

DEADLY FRIEND...hahahah. I went to see that in the theater as a kid. Do we really need it on dvd? Isn't there somewhere else we can look to for a killing via basketball?

I'm a fan of Craven's I would like to have the WHOLE collection. I'm sure there are people out there that love John Woo or Spielberg or Coppolla and like some of their movies that are just plain stupid. I actually enjoyed Deadly Friend. I'd like a DVD release of it. In fact, I remember hearing about a year ago in a Warner Brothers statement that Deadly Friend was being considered for a DVD release. Is it still coming? Probably not, but there is hope.

Are you going to bless yourself with a copy of Cursed when it hits the store? I too enjoy certain directors work and own many of theri movies, but I still have to avoid some of the turds that they unleash on us from time to time.

I sure hope Deadly Blessing comes out soon. It seems like prime material for Anchor Bay or MGM, who both did such great jobs on their respective SEs of The Hills Have Eyes and Last House on the Left.
