Deals I found at Pawn Shops...

$4 for a used copy of Rushmore.
$6 for a used copy of Silence of the Lambs.
$5 for a used copy of The Royal Tenenbaums
$6 for a used copy of Chasing Amy

I also took full advantage of Hastings' "4 used for 1 new, under $30" deal. I cleared out a local pawn shop's $1.99 clearance DVD section (mostly crap titles, didn't matter as long as they were in good condition). So I got 5 or 6 of the following for, essentially, $7.96 new. On the rest, I traded titles in my own collection that I no longer wanted:

Cries and Whispers
Rashomon
Armageddon
Wild Strawberries
Red Beard
Man Bites Dog
I Am Curious (Boxed Set)
Smiles of a Summer Night
Tanner `88
Slacker

I also talked a manager into working out a system in which I could make up the difference in cash. Their computer system wouldn't do it, so the manager would let me trade 4 titles for any $29.99 title, then do an exchange on the $29.99 title for whichever higher priced Criterion I wanted to purchase. I got the following for that same 4 for 1 deal, plus the difference in cash (which, other than some boxed sets, and Spartacus, was $5.00)...

The Adventures of Antoine Doinel (Boxed Set)
Brazil (Boxed Set)
The Last Temptation of Christ
Spartacus
8 ½
Red Beard
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Throne of Blood
Rules of the Game
Le Cercle Rouge
Ikiru
The Rock
3 Women
The Testament of Dr. Mabuse
Stray Dog
The Tin Drum
The Lower Depths

The following I got used at Hastings for their system price of $17.99..

The Vanishing
Schizopolis
Traffic

Also, note that Hastings has since changed their policy on trading 4 for 1. They still do it, but the title must now ring up in their system as more than $3 (most basic, non-SE releases will ring up for $1 in their system, so you'll likely only get in on that deal by trading a nice SE set, a boxed set, a new release, or some comparable item).

New sealed copy of Armageddon, < $20. Wal-Mart did not differentiate between editions.

I think I paid around $12 for Down by Law: CC on eBay and $15 for The Seventh Seal: CC. Two films in my top 10 films of all time list probably.

I found Rushmore in a two pack w/ Romy and Michelle for $20 at a K-mart. I gave the R&M to my girlfriend of the time (now wife) and kept Rushmore. A few days later my apt was burglarized, and all that was left for me was my copy of Rushmore.

Not very many good deals for me, even though I've got quite a few Criterions.. Here are my better deals.

$6.99 - The Last Temptation of Christ (pawn shop)
$9.99 - Fishing With John (BBV) (must've been a trade-in, because the insert was intact)
$9.99 - Band of Outsiders (BBV) (same as above)
$9.99 - Carnival of Souls (BBV) (didn't have the insert, and the cover is creased because they took it out of the 2disc alpha and put it in an amaray)
$12.99 - Silence of the Lambs (ebGames)
$12.99 - Beastie Boys Anthology (GameStop)
$15.00 - The Bank Dick (exchange forum)
$26.99 - Dead Ringers (secondspin)
$34.99 - Flesh for Frankenstein (pretty close to retail, but OOP)
$34.99 - Blood for Dracula (same deal here)
$80.00 - Notorious, Rebecca & Spellbound (exchange forum) (They came out to about 27.75 a piece, and have long been OOP)

I also got Rushmore a while back on Walmart.com, but I don't remember the price, just remember it was a pretty good one.

And I got the Fanny & Alexander 5disc when BB had them mispriced. I think it was $39.95 or so. Not as good as that SunCoast misprice, but still not bad.

I take that back, I guess I have gotten quite a few good deals and just never realized it. Now, when a certain 20% sale rolls around, I'm gonna pick up some of the box sets I need, and they should run about $45.00 or so, which is pretty awesome.

Armageddon for whatever it averaged out to at Columbia House.
Traffic during the recent Best Buy mistake for $10, or whatever the price point was.

The 400 Blows (OOP Print): $2 NEW

From the same seller I had also picked up about 16 other CC's all either sealed or in mint condition, all at $2 a piece, but The 400 Blows was definately my best investment, it was the only one I sold and I turned it around for $125 (not a bad profit margin).

Rushmore: CC $4
Rules of the Game: CC $4
Black Orpheus: CC $4
Spartacus: CC $4

I picked up these Criterions and also Red Desert $4 at one pawn shop in one day. For the five DVDs it was $21.64. This was about 3 months ago. I haven't found anything there since but I continue to go at least once a week. The cashier said some girl had pawned a bunch of DVDs the week before. I still wonder what other DVDs she pawned that were gone before I went there.

I assume the prices will still be similar, though...since they'll still be run by the same company. Unless I'm mistaken, GameStop will still use their system of pricing used items (DVD's in particular), but they'll just be sold through a more specialized outlet...right? If that's the case, I'd venture to say that's a good thing. More people are likely to trade movies at a place called "MovieStop" than they would be to swing by and attempt a trade at a "GameStop."

Am I missing something? Also, any news on when they plan to make the switch?

Well there is a movie stop here in Orlando already...

Problem is at GameStop there is only one sku for say Traffic, which is $6.99 or so... so whether its Criterion or not the employees there just mark it at $6.99 which is how everyone is getting these deals, they do not indivudalize sku's for special edition dvd'...

At MovieStop however, they acknowledge this difference anc charge $26.99 for Traffic: Criterion because they know its value and have a more advanced sku system for its dvd's...

So when movies are traded in to GameStop, soon they will be shipped into local MovieStops to maximize profits...

A used but in mint condition The Killer for $15 through an Ebay auction a couple of years ago...and it's not the bootleg variety that is common on Ebay nowadays. The seller had it posted differently than one would expect, and she ended the auction early since I wanted to give it as a gift to someone (me)!

Nothing too stunning, but a couple of Blockbuster finds:

1) Picked up a used FOR ALL MANKIND that was marked $7.99 as part of a B2G1F

2) Last year found a newSEVEN SAMURAI with a mispriced sticker for $17.95, which the store begrudgingly honored.
