Free DVD AND $100 credit by signing up for the Sony card.
Somewhat of a stretch but a free DVD none the less.

With your first purchase you get a $100 credit.
When you get your card in the mail it says you get free 2500 Sony rewards points with activation.
Go here for the DVD catalog. DVDs start at 1000 points. Some combo packs are 2500 points

Sorry for the confusion for misreading the rewards thing.
The $100 credit will be available 8-12 weeks after your first purchase.
The MySony Catalog rewards points are separate points given for clickon on links or newletters. Similar to mypoints. Purchases made on MySony Rewards using your Sony card will net you 8 points per dollar appliable to your Sony Rewards Card catalog.
MySony Catalog Reward points expire after six months. Sony Reward card points expire after five years.
I guess if no free DVD this thread can be moved to Hot Deals.

Wow, what a great offer....It sucks that I already have 2 credit cards (I am 19) and a 3rd one will not look good on my credit...or will it??? help!

it depends on your current credit. if you have a low utilization rate (under 25%) and have now had any inquiries in 6 months, you won't take big hit. with with more credit your score would increase overtime.

the more credit cards on your file, the better your credit will be....as long as you don't max out the cards....basically, they look at this ratio:
(amount of credit dept) / (total credit available)
the lower this ratio, the better your fico score will be....as you can see if the amount of credit debt stays the same, but you get a new credit card, the total credit available will increase and thus lower the overall ratio, which will increase your fico score....now 100% will look bad...so don't max out all your cc and you should be good....

I just got the card and registered it online.
I got the 2500 reward points....but I have no idea how you use the points to get the free DVD and what not.
When I look at the different products to choose from, it says that it takes like $18.00 and 500 points to order this product.
How do I order something with only points?

Say you bought a Sony CD Player at Best Buy. There's a redemption form online that'll give you instructions on a place to mail the stuff (UPC #, copy of UPC, etc.) and you'll be able to get 3 times the points instead of 1 and you can also apply the points towards your purchase.
Now, I feel like I got screwed. I signed up for this from some guy who set up some table when I was in college and he gave me some stupid daytime planner that I never used. I remember that I actually had to sign up for 2 cards and all I got was that planner. I cancelled that other one one pretty quickly but I still use the Sony Card. It's how I built my credit and probably have spent around 50 - 75K on it in the 6 or so years that I've had it.

Also, on the 2nd link in the OP's post, it shows a catalog with things that only cost points but when I checked out the FAQ's it says that you can't get any products with just points. So I'm wondering what the point of that website is for if you aren't able to order any of those products with just those points anyways.
Finally, it seems like even with the points the DVD's are basically the same price or more compared to b&m's, or are there actually good deals because all I look at are the dvd's and cd's.

I got 2500 points.....and I emailed the Customer Service department about things and this was their response.
www.sony.com/sonycard doesn't even work, so I have no idea how I'm suppose to enroll to get my free points for that.....
