Interesting first date movie choices...

Movies tend to be a hit or miss with people on first dates. It kinda depends on the person. Some people I waited a few dates to hit the theater, others were first date affairs. What was opening of said weekend also played a factor.

So... anyone have any odd stories about movie choices? Ever have a flick ruin the evening? Get into an argument over a controversial film? I have two, neither of which happened to me, but are pretty funny, IMO.

First, a friend took his very conservative date to see Wild Things. Nice one. Neither one knew anything about the flick, they just decided to throw a dart at the dartboard of flicks. Well, they ended up getting married later on. Not a bad choice after all.

Another friend insists that Men in Black ruined his date. They both hated it and left the theater in bad moods and parted ways earlier than expected. Now MIB was bad, but that bad?

Anyone else?

Well, I once took a first date to see Schindler's List. It obviously put a downer on the evening (and no, we didn't make out during it a la that episode of "Seinfeld"). The relationship lasted two years, though.

Took a date to see Sirens, but instead of feeling uncomfortable it made the rest of the evening quite enjoyable and rememberable.

My dad took my mom to The Exorcist for their first date. He was a bit worried about his chances for a second date when she watched the entire movie through her hands.

Let's see:

Out Cold (lasted two weeks)
Elf (no second date - stayed friends)
Love Actually (lasted a month and a week)

I don't date much...

Luckily, "Meet Joe Black" was sold out, so I persuaded him to go see "Happiness". (He certainly didn't have an inkling of my personality if he thought I'd want to see "Joe Black".)

Took a gal to Shakepeare In Love. I hear it beat up all the time on this board, mainly cuz they feel something else should have won Best Pictue that year, but I liked it. Or maybe it was the company. Our first kiss was actually during the film. Guess it got to her.

We are still together today. (audience sound) aaawwwwww (/audience sound)

Due to our similar musical tastes I took a date to The Wedding Singer.

We've been married almost 6 years now.

But that's the point, it's a date movie to begin with.

Not a first date movie, but about 6 weeks after we hooked up I took this navy chick to see Hellraiser. It pretty much soured the whole thing, and she gave me the Heisman a month later. A shame really, she looked like Lucille Ball at 20 and was quite the vixen. Wherever you are now, Dawn, I'm thinkin' nice thoughts of you.

Took a girl out on a date to see Godzilla(98). fell asleep on her shoulder and snored throughout the pic. She punched me in my arm as I left her at the airport the next day...that did not go at all well.

Took another girl out to see Toy Story, Married 9 years in June. Oh, I did stay awake for that one!
