Is Jeff Probst of Survivor a good host? (Haters welcome here too)

Your thoughts? Good host? Great host? Crap host?

Personally I like him as a host, that doesn't mean there is somebody better out there, but for what he is and what he does I like him. I like his cheesy little lines like "Once again, immunity up for grabs" like daaa Jeff we didn't know that, but theres something about that, with all those repitious lines, if there was a time that he didn't ever say them I might be lost.

Lets hear it.

Haters too.

I think he is a really good host. If you watch any of the first season then you watch an episode from this season, you will see how polished he is at it now. I think he and Phil from the Amazing Race are really good.

this is off topic a bit, but a friend of my girlfriend is his personal assistant. this guy had gotten a little behind financially speaking and Probst immediately offered him a $3,000 loan. this and other stories lead me to believe that he's genuinely a good guy.

I think Jeff is good. I know the "Reunion" shows got much better when they finally let Jeff do them instead of someone who has had much less contact with the contestants like Bryant Gumbel.

As for the repititious lines I see that on all reality shows or at least the few I watch. I think the producers decree that the same lines be used all the time. I think it gets kind of annoying but the idea is probably that it makes the audience comfortable or something like that.

I don't think he is quite as good as Phil from The Amazing Race or Anderson Cooper from The Mole who was the best I've ever seen.

He comes off a little too smug for me sometimes, but overall he is pretty good. I prefer Anderson Cooper (ex of The Mole) and Phil Keoghan (Amazing Race).

He's pretty good, despite his arrogance.

I think he's good. Remember that he doesn't write his own lines, so the repetitive stuff would be there no matter what.

I also agree that Anderson Cooper wins as the best reality show host, however.

I think he is quite good.

I still can't believe they used Bryant Gumbel and Rosie to host the reunion show in the past.

I think he's good although what was up with the comment at the end of the reunion show about new contestants. Something about "If you want to be a contestant and you can survive on a broken ankle....." It's like he still doesn't understand Jeff wanting to quit. It absolutely burns him up that someone would quit except when Janu did it. He didn't give her a hard time at any point AND they let her be on the Jury. I guarantee if that's a strong guy, he would not be allowed to stay on the jury. They would have figured something else out.

At this point he is too much a part of Survivor to make a change. But I like what he does so it is fine with me if he stays until the series ends.

I think he's gotten alot more arrogent and much shorter with the people on the show and I think that has made him a better host.

Back when The Mole was on I though Cooper would have been the perfect host for Survivor but now I think Probst is the best person to have out there doing it.

The only way I would want to see Jeff replaced is if he decided to play the game one season...which would be pretty cool.

Jeff is great, but if he should ever decide to leave Rob Cesternino could do his job without missing a beat.

I love it when he cuts through the bullshit to get straight answers from people. The only thing that gets on my nerves is his play-by-play announcing during challenges. I guess he's required to do that though.

Jeff Probst has become more and more arrogant as the seasons have gone on. I think he is a smug bastard and came off as an arrogant prick in his EW interview a while back. I got the impression, that he felt he was the "star of the show." He has increasingly interjected himself into the show and to an extent, the dynamics of the show with his "probing" questions. Just extinguish the flames, you smug asshat.

Edit to add: the fact that he divorced his wife immediately after he became famous and is now dating a former contestant from the show tells me how swarmy he is.

Yeah but it is Julie.

I couldn't give a rat's ass about his personal life. Has nothing to do with hosting the show.
