MAME Challenge #38 (5/16-5/31) Pac-Man Strikes Back

Welcome to MAMEbowl XXXVIII!
We're going to have a new thread twice a month to see who can get the high score on 4 different arcade games in MAME.

Download MAME to play the games.
New to MAME? Feel free to ask questions here or read the tutorials
I am going to host the current ROMs and list of all the past winners and high scores here.

The Rules:
  1. To enter, you just play one of the games and post a screenshot (F12 key in MAME) with your score.
  2. The deadline to post your high scores will be 11:59 PM on the 30th of the month.
  3. Any games should be played with one credit and no continues or any features that you wouldn't get by playing the actual machine.
  4. Submitted scores should be played during the designated time period, not scores you've gotten in the past.
  5. The winner can pick any game from MAME that we haven't already played for the next thread. Sequels are ok, but clones are not.
  6. If the winner doesn't pick a new game before the new thread starts, we will continue to play that game until someone else wins or the winner returns to choose a game. If a new game isn't chosen after 3 days, then the person with the next highest score gets the pick.
  7. If you play and beat any of the high scores from the previous games we've played, you can submit them here for the All Time Top Scores.

The Games:
(click the games for info and how to play)

Gladiator - Winning Score: ~~PAL~~ 171600

Pac-Man (Midway) - Winning Score: trozkd 145220

Raiden - Winning Score: IgnatiusReilyII 451210

Star Wars (rev 2) - Winning Score: ~M~ 944100

The Prize:
Whoever gets the high score for one of the current games picks the next game that replaces it. You also get your name engraved permanently etched onto this eye catching trophy with a genuine Sharpie!

The Champs:

Go the the Properties of that game.

Choose Controllers

Check the Enable mouse input.

I just wish I could reverse the mouse, so that when I move up the display goes up and not down.

I'm pretty sure you can do that. I'll see if I can figure it out when I get home. You managed to get the 400,000 bonus with the mouse the way it is, so it must not be that tough. I don't think an analog joystick is any easier.

Hmm... don't know how to take that sentence. or

Also, I just realized that I did start with the medium bonus. Is that okay, or do we start at lvl 1?

I think it's start wherever you want. I would think most of us playing VS Excitebike started at level 3.

Start wherever you want for Star Wars. That is usually how it works. We made an exception for Klax because it had a stupid scoring system and warps all over the place. I don't remember if there were any others, but Star Wars is pretty straight forward.

OK, here's how:
Run the game
Press Tab and go to Analog Controls

Set Reverse Y Axis to On

Press Esc twice and it should work the way you want.

~M~ answered that already
Right click Star Wars and go to Properties, then go to the Controller tab.

I don't know then. Make sure the joystick is disabled and try checking the analog control settings.

Gladiator uses 3 buttons for the sword up, middle, and down. Hit tab and go to "Input Settings (This Game)"

Yeah, the mouse is such a pain. I should've never showed you how to reverse the controls I don't think I'll get close to that score because of those see through walls in the Deathstar.

Heck, I'm waiting for D300 to show up and destory my score. He tell stories of rolling the score over... blah blah blah.

Especially, the time when he played one handed, blindfolded, while hanging from his feet.

Didn't beat my high score (as you can see), but I'll keep trying. Great game!

We actually had Star Wars at the bowling alley my parents owned. I didn't really play it that much then, and I still don't like it. But if you keep talking smack, I might go and spend $500 on Ebay and buy a yoke just to beat your score.

You can get a yoke for $500?

dreading the possibility of having to write IgnatiusReilyII on the trophy.

There was a really nice one that went for $540. Too bad the pics are gone. Those bidders are crazy, I wouldn't pay that much even if I liked the game. It probably wouldn't help my score anyways. I barely won Pole Position, and I didn't say anything then because it would have been embarrassing if I lost, but I was using a real Pole Position wheel
