(Perhaps they are one and the same?)
And Hal Sparks is the host? Please tell me he needed to extra cash to replace a transmission or something.

Yeah, G4 sucks. If they stopped sucking, that would probably cause me to lose faith in humanity.

Can you really be surprised at this when we unveil our new video game systems on MTV now?
Sad, so very, very sad.

I havent bothered to watch G4 since the messed with the Screen Savers format. X-Play was good (<3 Morgan) but a lot of their reviews were pretty lame & more about getting in 1-liners than actual reviewing.
Besides, I get more inforamtion faster online then from TV.

Well, when we have a show on MTV that uses video game characters in mock-up music videos, what does that tell you? Besides, PSM has for years actually had a swimsuit issue with comicbook artists drawing their favorite game characters.

The idea of this show reminds me of that "PLAY"(?) magazine...whichever one had the "babes of video games" issue.
I'd just rather look at real women instead of watch some fanboy contest show about which DOA character has the best ass.

I actually like G4's X-Play show - not so much for it's reviews, but for it's liberal use of gameplay footage, and I actually find the show very funny... is there something wrong with me?

Different strokes. I can't stand the dialogue on XPlay. Sometimes I'll fast forward through the 'comedy' just to view some of the gameplay in reviews though. I don't get the Morgan thing either. She's attractive, but as soon as she opens her mouth, I'm hitting the fast-forward button. She's hardly an actress and the skits on that show require some acting ability.
Icons has some interesting topics now and then and I like the documentary style. Not too many annoying MTV-esque camera cuts.
Every once in a while, I'll catch a few minutes of 'Judgement Day'. It's OK, but WHY is that Tommy guy on TV?

I should reiterate - I don't care AT ALL for the skits on X-Play - it's the back-and-forth banter that amuses me.
Morgan's just OK looking - she's got a weird jaw-line, but a nice rack - but she seems like she's having fun.
Tommy from Judgement Day needs to be shot.

I actually really enjoy XPlay. I've seen them give some brutal reviews, which is nice. I also think the writing has improved a LOT in the last year and I find myself laughing out loud during reviews whereas I used to just tolerate the jokes. The crappy "Mongoose!!!" animation kills me every time. Along with the foul-mouthed racoon puppet.
However, that's the only show I will watch on G4.

It pains me to tell you this, but The screen savers is no more. another g4 casualty. The show is now called Attack of the Show (I'm not making this up, that's the real name) and the tech is gone from the show, it's about the latest movies, music, and celebrities. sometimes they might show a video game or two.

I don't. I'll always like Hal because he was one of the better (and funnier) people to be on the "I LOVE THE ___" shows.
As for Morgan....i saw a show or two (proabaly one and a half) and to be honest, either she doesnt really like video games or just doesnt know how to act when the camera comes on. I just don't buy that shes a gamer.
The guy i can believe is a gamer.

And yet The Screensavers, thank God, lives on. I'll take the Podcast (meaning no video) over TSS on G4 after Leo left...
twit.tv = One hour of awesome audio a week by the old TSS crew + John Dvorak. Even though it's free, I enjoy it so much I gladly donated the $20 per year to keep it going.

LOL....ok, this sounds pretty dumb allright, but who cares, some may like it.
I like some of the G4 shows, I like judgement day, xplay, and icons. I don't mind the hosts either. Attack of the show is ok too, not as good as before, but I can watch it, it's sometimes entertaining .

Isn't Tommy Talarico a videogame music composer or something? He's gotta up the obnoxious quota so the other guy can be the calm, good guy.
I believe Morgan is a gamer, just not a good actress. Although man, those X-play bits are brutal either way (going from memory here... haven't had TechTV since around the time they changed it to G4, and the cable company decided I'd have to pay more for it)

Sigh, I liked watching The Screen Savers & Call for Help on the old ZDTV. Just when I thought I knew a lot about computers back then, I'd learn a helluva lot more watching Leo Laporte. G4 is a prime example of the "dumbing down" of America. They took an informative, educational venue and changed it into a tech-focused Entertainment Tonight. Forget the real news, here's some virtual T & A and splashy TV graphics.

I only caught about 5 minutes of it yesterday. The set looked very similar to the old Filter set (aka a big empty blue room), and there was a DJ in the background spinning records, but you could barely hear any music while the panelists were talking. The three panelists were Seanbaby (who is apparently much more interesting in print than in person), some guy I didn't recognize (possibly from a previous season of Real World or Road Rules), and some woman who I had never seen before in my life. I watched it long enough to learn that a bunch of nerds rated Lara Croft's butt a 7.9. Every minute I watched this show I felt myself getting progressively dumber.

You don't see the educational value in the Whip Set ("the cars you want and the girls you can't have") or Video Game Vixens? :) I thought it was funny that on Kevin Rose's last day with Attack of the Show, he said he just wanted to do some good, solid tech content... which clearly has no place on G4.

I saw him some dumb MTV video game show...oh yeah, the one that showed some really pathetic video game people buying cars like those in Gran Tourismo and such.
I always think that Seanbaby can't be as funny when he has to be "nice" like on TV or in EGM.
His website is some really funny shit....i wonder if he updates it anymore.

Dude, that show is so bad it's great! I watched one episode for the cringe factore alone. Sooooooooooo bad. One was enough, but I was highly entertained laughing for all the wrong reasons.
The Twitcast is great as is Systm (ok not great yet, but still good stuff) and from the shadows (they do some interesting stuff on this web show). The only problem I have with the TWIT show is the bit in every show where Leo gets a bit too self congratulatory. "We are the future. We're sticking it to the man!" Calm down Leo.
Not really tied to those three shows, but a great (low low low budget) web based video game show is Consolevania. Self produced, shared, and all that jazz by these cats from Ireland/Scottland (one of those) I think. When you can cut through the accent, they give great reviews. Real in depth type stuff on some really random games. Most of the skits are pretty awful, though I find some of it to be funny. It's worth checking out though, a google search will turn up the site.
G4 is a total lost cause now so nothing they do can surprise me. I would have loved the channel if I were 10 though.
Does anyone remember when Adam hosted gamespot tv I think was the name of the show? He didn't act so goofy and was more of a straight man and was SOOOO much better for it. The only reason they seem to make him act so damn dumb is to make Morgan look cooler, that's pretty lame.

Yes, those were the good old days. I think Sessler is just trying to hold on to a job. The guy is balding and getting older, so he compensates by acting less mature. Makes perfect sense to me...
