Please Help -- Marantz DV-18MkII vs. Marantz DV-6200 -- Which should I keep?

I have a real dilemma in my hands.

I get to choose between a Marantz DV-18MkII (which is restricted to Region 1 and I can't find a way to make it region free) or a Marantz DV-6200 (region free).

The question is, is any of them vastly superior to the other? Concerning video and audio (CD playback as well) quality.

I need a multi region player because I own a vast Region 1 and Region 2 collection and live in a Region 4 country (also own a vast Region 4 collection).

I could also ditch both and get an el cheapo Philips 642 or something...

Is there a huge picture quality difference between the Marantzs and the Philips (or other simple "mainstream" player)?

Those were the first codes I tried. Neither worked.

It seems that the DV-18 is not exactly the same as the DV-18MkII.

I was told I should look for a Pioneer Elite region free firmware, but then I don't know WHICH.

Is there a huge difference in image quality between one of the Marantz and a mainstream player such as the mentioned Philips? Using it through component video 480i on a 29" flat screen TV. I'm getting tired of this. ;(
