Hi all, the thread title says it all. Sure I'd like a Velodyne but my budget doesn't allow for it, so I'm wondering about some of the better cheap subs out there for the buck. Thanks :).
I was in the same boat as you and went with this sub from Parts Express. It gets very good reviews on AVS Forum and lives up to them. For $124 bucks, this little puppy flat gets the job done.

Lower than what?
$200 range. I'm not averse to picking up a used one from ebay or otherwise, though, Southern Indiana area. A pal of mine just snagged a Velodyne CT-120 for $175 at a local pawn, for example.

I recently purchased this (http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=3951966) from J&R and have been very, very happy with it. For the $199.99 pricetag, I think I got a bit of a steal.

I have the Dayton, too, and I love the damn thing.

I also have the Dayton sub, it is well worth the ~$120. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend it, mine is great. Plays well down into the ~25Hz range.

You guys are making the Dayton sound awfully tempting! I'm currently using a Sony SA-WM40 sub......it's not bad, but doesn't seem to go as loud as I'd like, and definitely doesn't do good 5.1 tracks justice.....

Just an update. I went the same way as my audiophile pal did and wound up with a used Velodyne CT-120 sub as well. He's terribly picky about his components and has been singing praises about his Velo ever since he bought it so I didn't figure I could go TOO wrong!
