Identify old movie "The Stoneman"
I was asked by someone if I knew what the following movie might be.... and I am drawing a blank. Here's hoping it might trip something out there...
I am now 54 years old and I remember as a child we went to the movie theater when I was somewhere between 3 and 6 (I think) and saw a movie I thought was called “The Stoneman”. I was hiding under the seat most of the time or in the lobby so I don’t remember the movie plot but I DO remember the ending which was this huge stone man carrying a woman in his arms walking into the water and he melted into this big stone platform which floated on the top of the water, which is weird in itself. Do you know anything about this movie? I would be eternally grateful if you do cause I would love to see it again and see how dumb it really was and which made such an impact on my life.

The only thing I can think of - while operating under the premise that this person's long past childhood recollections should be given a somewhat more broad reading than as described - is "The Amazing Colossal Man" (1957). It seems to fit within the age parameters described and might fit as a child's interpretation of the Boulder Dam climax.

What about The Man Who Turned to Stone (1957)? I think there was a guy with petrified skin stealing sorority girls in that one. But he mentions the monster turning into a floating platform...I dunno.
