Go see CRASH (review thread)...
I wouldn't normally pimp so hard for a movie, but CRASH is special.
This is a beautiful creation about the ravages of racism and inability of human beings to communicate rationally. It's brilliantly acted and flawlessly made. Personally, I'll have trouble finding a better film this year.
I did enjoy HOUSE OF WAX for an upcoming weekend release too, but CRASH is tiny and easily lost in the early summer glut.
At least consider going to see it. Many of you will have trouble forgetting it.
[/shameless pimping]

I'm going to try and see this either Saturday or Sunday in the afternoon. If I wasn't working tomorrow morning, I would've been there at the first show. Crash is easily one of my most anticipated films of the year (well, next to Serenity, which I'm seeing tonight).

I've been looking forward to this for a long time. I'm a big Thandie Newton fan and for that alone I'd go check it out. Besides that, from the cast and what I've read about the movie I'd go see it even without her. Unfortunately, I won't be able to see this until the second week probably.

I saw what seemed to be a 5 minute trailer for it before The Interpreter and it almost turned me off of the movie because it didn't even try to explain what the movie is about. Maybe that was the point, but I at least want to know what kind of movie I'm going to see without things being spoiled for me.

I wanna check it out, but last time I saw a movie called Crash, it fucking sucked. That Cronenberg/Spader/Hunter movie was such a pile of feces that I even stopped listening to songs called Crash. I know this has nothing to do with that though, so I'll just have to force myself to go.

Sandra Bullock was on Jay Leno last night (Thursday) and showed a brief clip of her arguing with Brenden Frazier about changing the door locks or something like that and her performance was amazing. The dialogue she was saying was very intense and very real. I think I will check this film out and also due to Ebert's 4 star review.

Incredible movie. The acting, direction... everything was brilliant. There are moments when you are, quite literally, on the edge of your seat. The sheer intensity of some scenes...

Relations and interactions, toss in all manners of races, fears and past actions, in "Crash" you get a fast-moving, unrelenting film exposing a web of tangential connections of many characters while tackling the sticky issue of racial prejudice that exposes the good and bad of human nature. The film is filled with a wide spectrum of colorful choices, never clinging to absolute morality, its pulse going in and out of focus like the heartbeat of racial tensions. You'll laugh and cringe at the observations and stereotypes that the characters espouse and deal with to regain some control and some order in their own lives.
Providence plays a part in the quite a few of the storylines, and the coincidences might feel too coincidental, it works for the most part as writer/director Paul Haggis takes on this topic while weaving a narrative dependent on many different little inter-connected stories, and you just never know how they inter-connect until they do.
The cast is uniformily good given the scant setup for their characters, as Haggis' economical script cuts the dialogue down to the bare minimum without leaving the viewer confused or stranded in the stories.
It's worth seeing at the theaters.
I give it 3.5 stars, or a grade of B+.

i've heard nothing but good things about this movie - but the trailer is absolutely one of the worst I've seen in a long time. It tells you almost NOTHING about the movie. Just meaningless montages.

I saw this tonight and thought it was great.
For some reason, I was reminded of Traffic and 21 Grams (filming style and ambiance-wise). It was definitely an intense movie at times, but there were several laugh-out-loud moments that were perfect.

Jeez, I don't want to, you know, threadcrap or anything, but I thought this movie was a pretentious load of moralistic preaching, full of undeveloped, unconvincing characters and ridiculous "teach-a-lesson" coincidences. But hey, that's just me.

Pluses:
Incredible acting
Great dialogue
Good direction & cinematography/photography -- some of it reminded me of Traffic
The movie feels so long yet you don'r want it to end
Minuses:
Please FIRE whoever did the trailer --- thew worst I've seen in a long long long time
Please Fire whoever did the promotion, almost no one has heard of this great movie
A little bit too much hokey comedic racism, like the script was polished by a D-list comedian on ComicView ("Get this... the cop doesn't like black people! Ha! A winner!")
The script wasn't so great --- let's just say it wasn't flawless
It's the 2nd best movie I have seen this year (Kung Fu Hustle is a far far first) and I would gladly recommend it because it has an incredible 2nd act.
I'd say A-.

I saw this movie today and I loved it. Some of the dialogue in the movie was hilarious. It was filled with racial stereotypes galore. Acting was great (even from Ludacris) and I loved the screenplay.
I'll give it 3.5 out of 4 stars.
