Can you split a satellite signal?
I just got satellite this weekend with a dual tuner. So, I have 2 TV's with separate programing. Can you split off of a dual tuner to other TV's so I can have 3 or 4 TV's hooked up? I know you would have to watch whatever the main TV is tuned to, but I've heard that the tuner can detect the load and that I would need another receiver. Is this true? Just checking, would like to avoid additional receivers if possible. Thanks!

A bit extreme, but to answer your question, yes you can with the right equipment.

Do I need that big of a splitter? I'm not trying to hook up additional receivers, just TV's. Could I just use a splitter like this one...

can the satellite company track this any way? I have to have my phone line connected to get the $5 fee for the dual tuner waived. Would I need to disconnect the phone line in order to do this? In that case, I guess I could just pay the extra $5 for the additional receiver.

I don't see why/how it would be a problem. What company is this and what tuner are you using? As long as you have a coax output, you should be fine, aside from signal-loss.
Personally, I have signals split all over the place. My primary TVs run off of the s-video or component outputs, and then I split the coax output to TVs in other locations and then relay the remote signal around the home.

Thanks for the comments. I figured out as long as you split off of the output from the receiver your fine. You just can't split off of the Dish line. So, I just got a couple of satellite splitters from Radio Shack for $12 and split off of the second TV line and into my other two cable lines. So now I can watch two different things on 4 TV's with only one receiver. Thanks again!
