Hollywood Video 50% off 1 previously viewed DVD

Yesterday i got a coupon in the mail from Hollywood Video for 50% off 1 previously viewed DVD so i picked up the incredibles for $6.89 after tax. You might be able to just ask them if you can get that deal if you didnt get one in the mail.

I know that the store I work at wont just give people the deal without a coupon. If it were the case, I would be all over it.

Do you need a membership to Hollywood Video to buy these PVDs?

Even if you have a membership, you have to be lucky to get their mailings.

I have been a member for the longest and have received one mailing from them - and I (used to) rent all the time.

It had a great coupon that cannot be topped - any PVD for $4.99.

What if they sent out a coupon for any DVD for $3.99. Wouldn't that, in fact, top it?

Or did you mean it hasn't been topped?

Hasn't been topped (in the previously viewed dvd department - for me).

I dare them to send me a $3.99 coupon. I dare them.

They all have that. It is only good on PVDs "normally priced" at $9 and under (or maybe it was $8 and under). Back when it was good on PVDs at $10 and under it was a great deal because a lot of the foreign and arthouse flicks are initially priced at $10 when they go PVD.

My HV didn't have a 4-for-20 sale, but did have a small 2-for-10 sale. I picked up 'Growing Up Brady', and was going to get 'The Brady Bunch In The White House'...but could not convince myself (even for only 5 bucks) to get it. I ended up paying 6 bucks for the 1 DVD.

The 4 for $20 is for PVDs priced $7.99 or less, at least at my HV, assuming it is probably universal. Still, some good things slip through -- a few weeks ago, I picked up Beijing Bicycle with this deal (since you mentioned foreign films).

Falc04: Good call on skipping 'The Brady Bunch in the White House'. Truly awful. I got the 2-pack (that and 'Growing up Brady') when Overstock had their $2 glitch, and I made the mistake of actually watching it.
