UMD Movies
This question is for the admins of this site.
I was wondering if this site was going to be doing any reviews for UMD Movies for the PSP. If so, would you be looking for people to do reviews?

"What's a UMD movie?"
What's a PSP?
UMD is a Universal Media Disc.
PSP is the new Sony Handheld Video Game/Media System: PlayStation Portable.
Do they really need separate reviews since they are all previously released movies? Also, there's no extras on a UMD movie, correct?
First, many new releases are coming to PSP. And yes, there are extras on some movies. For example, Kill Bill Vol. 1 has a music video by the 5,6,7,8's and a 20-minute making-of video.
Here is a short list of movies scheduled to be released in the coming months:
Are We There Yet?
Armageddon
From Dusk Till Dawn
Gone in 60 Seconds (Unrated Director's Cut)
Hellboy (Director's Cut)
Hero
High Tension
Hostage
King Arthur: Extended Unrated Director's Cut
National Treasure
Pirates of the Carribbean
Saw
Saw 2
Terminator 2: Judgement Day
The Devil's Rejects
The Incredibles
The Punisher
Total Recall
Tron
Young Guns
This is only a partial list and does not include any of the Japanese anime titles scheduled for the system. Some of the films have yet to be released in theaters. In fact, Bandai, is planning to package the DVD and UMD in the same bundle. They will offer a DVD only at one price point and offer the combo for a few bucks more. I think that if that model sells well, we can expect other companies to follow suit. Especially, if the PSP becomes as popular a medium as Sony hopes.

Here is the most up-to-date release list that I could put together, based on Amazon release dates and this forum. Considering most of the discs were $13 to $15 on release day, I think they are pretty good deal. At the higher price point, I'm going to be much more selective (picked up Pirates of the Caribbean for $21 at Amazon for the kids).
4/19 XXX, Resident Evil Apocalypse, Hellboy, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, House of the Flying Daggers, Kill Bill Vol 1, Pirates of the Caribbean
5/3 Reign of Fire, Hero, National Treasure
5/24 Are We There Yet?, Charlies Angels
5/31 Hollow Man, Boogeyman
6/14 Spider-Man: New Animated Series, Daddy Day Care, Hitch
6/21 King Arthur, Hostage, Cursed, Tron
6/28 Grudge, Anacondas
6/24 Terminator 2, Van Wilder, Punisher, Saw, Open Water
7/19 Kill Bill 2, Armageddon, Gone in 60 Seconds, From Dusk Til Dawn
TBA 2005: Total Recall, First Blood, Stargate, Young Guns, House of the Dead, Step into Liquid, Universal Soldier

it all seems fairly obvious stuff so far, the releases on UMD. japan gets 'kung fu hustle' in jul, same day as all the other editions (including a superbit disc)... and some off stuff too.
also worth noting that some japanese releases hint at dual DVD/UMD packages...

I don't know if that counts for all the movies but for Spiderman 2 they reformated the movie to fit the PSP screen.

Anyone else wonder why Air Force One is one of those movies that makes it out early in the "new formats"? It hit Superbit early, now it's a UMD.
I bet we will see it on Sonyshiba's Blue-HD-DVD standard within a few months of its debut.

According to the new issue of Video Business magazine, Fox is in advanced negotiations to release UMDs (no titles announced yet) and Universal and Paramount are assessing involvement as well. If this happens, it will be quite a coup for Sony and their UMD format.
